Are you looking for fun and affordable ways to keep the kids busy this summer? Have you taken the Michaels Unplugged Summer Pact yet? Michaels stores are making it so easy for parents and kids to get crafting this summer with the Passport to Imagination classes. Kids will have a chance to travel the world this summer at classes being held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays this summer. Each week a different part of the world will be explored and kids will get to learn about different cultures while doing fun craft projects. One of the things I love about these 2 hour classes, for children ages 5 and older, is the affordability. Classes are only $2 to attend, including supplies.

Our Michaels store in Augusta has this neat display just as you walk in the door. It shows some of the fun craft projects kids have to look forward to this summer.

My nieces were so excited to attend their first class earlier this week, when they learned about South America. Projects that day included textile weaving (Bolivia) and a Moai sculpture (Easter Island). The textile weaving was a little tricky for the girls at first, but with a bit of practice they were well on their way to becoming master weavers. That might be a bit of a stretch, but it sure was fun!

Check out Rebecca’s finished projects. I think she did a great job! Maddie’s projects were great too, but she had already rolled her Maoi back into a ball, before I could snap a pic. I guess remolding it is part of the fun about playing with clay though!

  • we did these last year and loved them, but they did not charge for them last year. I am unable to do these this year because they are charging for them and $2.00 for 4 kids get’s up there doing it every week so this year we are not doing them. They look like nice crafts!

  • I think it is wonderful that Michael’s is providing these classes – both fun and educational – and it involves working with your hands with different materials rather than technology.
