We grill a lot of burgers in the summertime, so it’s fun to jazz them up a bit for something different and delicious. Here are a few variations that I really like:
Blue Cheese Stuffed BurgersÂ
For Filling:
1 1/2 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 ounces blue cheese, crumbled
1 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh chives or finely chopped onion
For Burgers:
1 1/2 pound ground beef
1/4 cup dry bread crumbs
1 egg
Combine all filling ingredients and mix well. In a separate bowl, combine all burger ingredients, mix gently. Shape burger mixture into twelve 3 1/2 inch patties. Place 6 patties on waxed paper. Top each patty with about 1 tablespoonful filling mixture. Place remaining patties over filling and press edges to seal. Grill to desired doneness.
Sloppy Joe Burgers
1 1/2 pound ground beef
1/4 cup ketchup
1 envelope sloppy joe seasoning mix
6 slices American cheese
Combine ground beef, ketchup and seasoning mix, mix gently. Shape into 6 patties. Grill to desired doneness. During last 2 minutes of grilling, top each burger with a slice of American cheese.
Cajun Pork Burgers
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon pork and veal seasoning or pork seasoning
1 to 2 teaspoons hot pepper sauce
1/2 pound ground pork
1/2 pound bulk hot pork sausage
Combine water, seasoning and pepper sauce; blend well. Add pork and sausage; mix gently and shape into 4 patties. Grill to desired doneness.
I would love to hear how you jazz up your summer burgers!
