Navdy Makes Almost Any Car Smarter and Safer

Navdy makes almost any car smarter and safer. Get directions, receive calls, texts and control your music without ever picking up your phone.

We are all busy and on-the-go. Whether we are heading to the office, toting the kids to ball practice or taking off on our next adventure, a lot of time is spent in our cars. But here’s the thing. We all know that we are not supposed to check our phones when driving. But, there are still plenty of people who do it, and to be honest with you I do it sometimes too.

Especially since moving to a new city, I have found myself occasionally glancing down to my phone for navigation. That is why me, you, and pretty much everyone could benefit from Navdy. As a mom, the safety aspect of Navdy is particularly appealing.

This post is sponsored. However, all opinions are my own.

Navdy turns any car into a smart car, even my 2007 Honda Civic. I love not having a car payment, but I sure miss having all the bells and whistles you can get with a new vehicle. With Navdy you get even more than what most new cars have. It’s useful for anyone, whether you have a new car or an older model.

Turn-by-turn navigation, call/text notifications and more.

Navdy is like a traditional HUD (head-up display) only far more technologically advanced. In fact, Navdy calls the display an Augmented Driving Device, thanks to its augmented reality display that projects information as a transparent image over the road ahead. If you are looking for a HUD, or just want to drive safer or smarter, Navdy is a great option.

The device does much more than just display your speed or RPM like most HUDs on the market. Using a companion app for iOS and Android, Navdy connects to your cell phone so it can provide turn-by-turn navigation, display notifications from your favorite apps like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and more, let you browse your music library and podcasts, and answer phone calls and text messages—via natural gesture control—with a simple swipe of your hand. You can also operate Navdy by touching a steering wheel-mounted dial. Best of all, Navdy allows you to safely view all this information without ever taking your eyes off the road.

Because it connects to your car’s OBD II port, Navdy will even tell you if you are low on gas and redirect you to a nearby gas station. It also lets you see vehicle data such as your miles per hour, engine RPM and more directly in your line of sight. Navdy sits in front of you on the dashboard and is far enough away that you can clearly see it without it being an obstruction. Your eyes never have to look away from the road, and the transparent image appears as if it’s floating right in front of you.

Installation is easy.

Anyone can install Navdy. Even me. I found the installation video from Navdy support to be incredibly helpful. Your Navdy will be ready to use in just 3 simple steps, and the entire process should take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. The latter if you are someone like me who gets easily overwhelmed by anything remotely techy. But you can do it. I promise.

You’ll begin by mounting the base for Navdy, which has a flexible base so it fits easily on the dashboard. The device will need to be plugged into your car’s OBD II data port. Most cars from 1996 and later have this port. It is located in various places around the dash area. In my 2007 Honda Civic, it is located underneath the dash. Next, you’ll attach the dial to the steering wheel, which is how you interact with your phone and the display when you are driving. You can select songs, contacts, routes and more by tapping the center and use the rotating dial to scroll through Navdy’s menus. Third, download the Navdy app. It is available from both the App Store and Google Play. The Navdy App works with the Navdy display and lets you control your phone without ever having to touch it.

I’m not a big fan of clunky devices, and was happy to see that Navdy fits almost seamlessly into my car. There are included clips that help you keep the cord that connects to the OBD II port out of sight and out of the way.

Why I’m such a fan of Navdy.

When Navdy is in use, the full-color HUD display is impressive. Information is presented clearly, which is what you’d want from something designed to keep your eyes on the road. Navdy provides functionality that you may not even realize you are missing. Once you start using it, you’ll never want to be without it again.

Being able to keep my hands on the steering wheel and my eyes forward while driving is a really big deal. Having an 8-year-old and sometimes the dog in the backseat is distraction enough. Not only does Navdy offer convenience, but it helps keep my family safe. That’s something you can’t put a price tag on. Want to learn more about Navdy? Check out the video on Navdy.com.
