Our weekend getaway at Embassy Suites in Atlanta was just what our family needed. Atlanta is almost a 2 hour drive for us making it the perfect weekend getaway location. On this recent trip we were guests of Embassy Suites Atlanta at Centennial Olympic Park, which is conveniently located in downtown Atlanta and adjacent to the Georgia Aquarium. There are also many family-friendly restaurants and attractions within walking distance. From the street, the hotel is quite impressive. The red and white brick, eight story hotel really stands out downtown.
We arrived in Atlanta early, so we checked our bags and headed across the street to the Georgia Aquarium. We’ve been to many different aquariums but were still blown away by the beautiful exhibits and the size of the aquarium. Did you know the Georgia Aquarium is the largest aquarium in the world? Being right next to this attraction makes Embassy Suites the perfect place for a family to spend a weekend getaway.
After a fun filled afternoon at the aquarium, we checked in at the hotel and were told by the friendly staff that there was still time for us to take advantage of the Manager’s Reception. Right in the middle of the breathtaking atrium, guests were mingling and enjoying cocktails. The atrium was filled with lush plants, trees and water features, along with comfortable seating for guests. We popped in to get a couple glasses of wine and then headed to our suite.
Our 2 room suite had a very comfortable living area which contained a sofa, comfy chair, dining table with four chairs, a small desk with chair, and a 32 inch flat screen television. It has everything a family of up to six needs to kick back and be comfortable. My only complaint is that the suites don’t have wi-fi available. However, there was a wired connection available next to the sofa for us to use. Also, there is a hotel business center and wi-fi connectivity in the hotel common areas.
I love how the beds are in a separate room with a door. Our two double beds were very comfortable with nice fluffy pillows and soft white bedding. Everyone got a good night’s sleep. We were excited that there was another 32 inch flat screen television in the bedroom!
The two room suite also had a nice bathroom with a granite and tile accents, and high end complimentary toiletries. For our convenience the room also came equipped with a microwave, mini refrigerator and coffee pot. the mini fridge came in handy for the ice cream treats we picked up downstairs in the gift shop. The coffee pot was a must for us. My mother doesn’t like to open her eyes in the morning without that first cup of coffee.
Located next to the beautiful Centennial Olympic Park, the hotel has some amazing views. Check out the view from our room. Centennial Park is a lush green oasis, amidst the impressive high rise buildings of downtown Atlanta.
After an afternoon of walking all over the Georgia Aquarium, we were pretty tired and hungry. Located right inside the hotel is a Ruth’s Chris Steak House restaurant. We didn’t feel like getting cleaned up to dine in, so we took advantage of the restaurant’s room service and the large dining table in our suite. Everything from our Chicken Caesar Salad to Burgers with Fries was mouth watering delicious!
After a restful nights sleep, we enjoyed the complimentary cooked to order breakfast offered at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. We enjoyed omelets, fresh fruit, pastries and much. Since everyone ate too much, we decided to go for a stroll in Centennial Olympic Park to walk some of it off. The park was full of families enjoying the weather and playing in the fountain. It was so nice that we could have stayed there all day.
The view of the hotel from the park was beautiful. It was the perfect last image for a perfect family weekend getaway.
Embassy Suites Atlanta at Centennial Olympic Park has a lot going for it. We didn’t take advantage of it this time, but the hotel has an outdoor heated swimming pool and fully equipped fitness center. The hotel is within walking distance to Coca-Cola, Georgia Dome, Philips Arena, the King Center and the Luckie Marietta District.
