Perfect Spread Bread Pairing: French Bread Spread #Recipe #EasterMeals #CBias

I’m already thinking about the Easter dinner menu and trying to come up with several new recipes to serve to my family and friends. I think this French Bread Spread recipe that I came up with yesterday is a keeper. It will be a perfect appetizer and accompaniment with our ham dinner.

Before coming up with this recipe, I had to make a quick trip to WalMart to grab some ingredients. I had a pretty good idea of what I would need already, so I got in and out of there pretty quickly this time. I know you’re wondering if that’s even possible, but I was a woman on a mission.

Ecce Panis

I want to make a really special bread spread for Easter this year and am pretty happy with what I came up with. The perfect spread must be paired with the perfect bread, so I was glad to find the new Ecce Panis – Bake at Home – French Demi Baguettes from Pepperidge Farm.

Here’s my French Bread Spread recipe.

Ingredients:
1 stick butter (softened)
1/2 cup mayonaise
3/4 cup grated Cheddar cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup chopped green olives
1/4 cup chopped parsley
1 clove garlic finely minced
salt and pepper to taste
squeeze or two of lemon (optional)
French Bread sliced into 1 inch pieces

Directions: Add all ingredients to a medium mixing bowl and stir until well incorporated. I added a squeeze of lemon juice to the recipe, but this is optional. I just love a one bowl recipe like this!

“The smell of good bread baking, like the sound of lightly flowing water, is indescribable in its evocation of innocence and delight…” M. F. K. Fisher, ‘The Art of Eating’

If you use the Ecce Panis French Demi Baguettes like I did, you’ll want to bake it first for 8-10 minutes. It really makes a difference and you’ll have the taste of fresh baked bread at home. When the bread is warm, the spread just melts right into it…delicious goodness! I think the French Demi Baguettes are just perfect for this recipe.

The Ecce Panis bread really does taste like it’s fresh baked. It’s very reasonably priced at my local WalMart, at only $1.18 for a package of two French Demi Baguettes. I am looking forward to trying some other Ecce Panis varieties.

I am looking forward to Easter when I can slap a piece of honey baked ham onto this bread with my spread!
