Tween girls have so many pressures on them these days. From boys, to getting good grades, and figuring out where they fit in. Starting her period at school is another big concern for girls. With the help of U by Kotex, we can do a lot to prepare girls for back to school and having their period. As a #KotexMom I hope to help other moms and share with them the tools available to assist their daughters with this transition into puberty.
When I was in school. I remember being so concerned over whether or not anyone could see the big bulky pad I was wearing. I am so glad that U by Kotex is now offering women and girls products that are much smaller, yet still super absorbent. They have a whole line of tween products that are designed to fit younger girls. I’m glad that my girls don’t have the same worries that I did about this, in school.
Know when to expect it. It’s no fun getting caught off guard and unprepared. If your daughter as already started her period, help her to keep track of her monthly cycle on a calendar so she’ll know when to be prepared. U by Kotex has a period calculator on their web site to help girls keep track of when to expect their period.
Warning Signs…
Know the period symptoms. Tweens and teens don’t always have a regular period, so it’s a good idea to let our daughters know which warning signs to look for. We moms know period symptoms all to well, but our daughters will need some help knowing what signs to look out for including: cramping, headaches, backaches, PMS.
Don’t get caught off guard…
Be prepared. Send your daughter back to school with the right products and knowledge. U by Kotex has wonderful small on-the-go products that can be discreetly tucked away in a backpack, purse, or locker. The U by Kotex tween pads are small and absorbent, helping girls to keep their period a secret from class mates. We put together this back-to-school period kit that includes a few pads and some other essentials. It can easily be tucked away into a locker.
U by Kotex has a wonderfully informative page for tween and teen girls to ask questions and get the answers they need about their period and puberty. I encourage you to share this with your daughters and send them back to school with U by Kotex confidence.
Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a Brand Ambassador Campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of U by Kotex Tween and received products to facilitate my post and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
It’s definitely a great idea to be prepared for that time! So great that they have a resource for the girls to turn to.
I think be prepared is such a great idea! I don’t have girls myself but I remember as a young girl being completely freaked out because my mom had not prepared me. Great advice!
I wish these were around when I was a teen. I’m so glad that companies are recognizing the younger girls who are more self conscious about this and trying to help by being both fun and discreet.
Love your post! I wish they had this back when I first started my period.
I am SOOOO not ready for this with my daughter!! A couple more years I hope!!! Thanks for the tips when the time comes!
I always had an emergency kit in my locker and made sure my teen girls did too. thanks for the tips
The first time is really scary, so having the discussion beforehand is so helpful and reassuring when the time comes.
My first period lasted only one day. Is this normal?
It’s perfectly normal to be irregular. Visit the http://www.ubykotex.com/ site and click on ‘Real Answers’. There you see what other girls are experiencing and can even ask one of their experts any question you have. 🙂
