We are a big movie family. Grandpa’s favorite activity is taking the kids to the movies. They saw Alvin and the Chipmucks: The Road Chip over Christmas and are now anxiously awaiting the release of Norm of the North.
Norm, a polar bear, travels north to New York City to stop a developer from building in the Arctic. While we await the release date, we crafted a polar bear.
We use puffy paint a lot in crafting. It’s super easy to make and has a fun texture. I stock up on white school glue at the beginning of the school year when it is on sale. I buy the cheapest shaving cream I can find. I often purchase it at the Dollar Tree, but have also purchased store band shaving cream.
Supplies:
- Paper plate
- White school glue
- Shaving cream
- Black card stock or construction paper
- White card stock
- Recycled fruit cup
Directions:
1. Make puffy paint by mixing equal parts glue and shaving cream.
2. Using puffy paint, paint a paper plate. Be liberal with the puffy paint; glob it onto the plate.
3. Add empty/clean fruit cup to the center of plate, so that top of the fruit cup faces down and the bottom of the fruit cup becomes the end of the bear’s nose. Paint with puffy paint.
4. Cut 3 circles from black paper. Add one circle to the fruit cup nose and the other two as the eyes.
5. Allow the polar bear to dry. We let ours dry overnight.
6. Cut out 2 ears from the white paper and attack to the back of the paper plate with tape.
Has your family seen any movies lately?
