Our featured blog this week is All About Liya. I am a regular reader of All About Liya and always look forward to reading about Liya’s latest adventures. You can tell by reading her blog just how passionate Nishana is about motherhood. It is truly a joy to read her blog.
I am a WAHM to a 23 month old sweet little princess LIYA- and yes a first time mom! I am born and brought up in a village of India, living in US for almost an year now- an Electronics Engineer by *qualifications* but I work for a ‘e-learning company’ which concentrates on creating custom solutions in adult learning and development, especially for large corporates.
Personally, I prefer to be practical and realistic in life, hate to live obsessed in a fantasy world! Glad to be inside the boundaries drawn by my religion and found it is the best. Believes that biggest strength is faith in creator and best weapon is patience and prayer!
About ‘All About Liya’ the blog
My blog Princess Liya sketches everything about my journey through motherhood. The antics, milestones, happiness, wonder, foolishness, myths, beliefs, cultural biases, worries, tantrums, troubles, treasures, learning, un-learning and re-learning, … everything a mom goes through while upbringing a little pie; a honest attempt to ‘e-sketch’ her life! I strongly believe that my little girl is the best and precious of all blessings Almighty God bestowed up on me. This blog reminds me about God and his abundant blessings and mercy towards me and my family.
Nishana was kind enough to answer a few questions, to help us get to know her better.
Q What is your favorite holiday and why?
A As a student, holidays I enjoyed most were the summer vacation as schools were closing down for 2 months, back in India. But my all time favorite holiday in India is Eid holidays, as two Eid days are only festivals for us as Muslims. In US, I love the Thanks Giving time, because I enjoy the decorations around the harvesting theme and the idea all together was something completely new to me, when I witnessed it for first time.
Q What is the best movie you saw this summer?
A Honestly, I did not watch any movie in this summer, not even a single one in my regional language or Hollywood. Do I sound strange..?
Q Favorite family activity?
A No matter which day, place, time, how short or long, I simply love being with my family. A tranquil vacation in a most scenic place would score high in my list, if I am asked to pick up anything specific. Exploring new landscapes and enjoying the beauty of nature is my all time favorite activity since childhood.
Q Best advice you have for new moms?
A Every child is special, every motherhood is unique and hence I believe advices/situations can’t be applied to every child. Experiences distilled from fellow moms’ life are the catalysts which help you explore and find out. You know your child better, and you are the best to weave your children’s life, not the neighborhood mom/aunt. *Again, this is not my advice, this is something I feel.*
Q What is the best deal you ever got?
A Personally, I always believe ‘work from home‘ facility is the best DEAL I ever had in my life as a mommy. This helps me do a wonderful job which I am passionate about, without compromising on my career aims and I am equally able to care for my family and my little girl, especially.
Deal is something which makes us feel ‘I am saving‘… Believe me, I am ‘saving’ a lot of love, care, precious moments and happiness as the time passes by. 🙂
