Saturday Featured Blog: Mommy Mind Spa

Hi!  I’m Ro and I’m so excited to be featured this week!!  Thanks so much Angela for having me!!
So here’s a little About Me:
First and foremost … I’m a wife and mom.  I’ve been a mom for 9 years now, and I’ve loved every minute of it.  I do oodles of laundry, I hop from kids activity to activity, and I bake the world’s best chocolate chip cookies!!  I have 3 incredible kids – William, Shayna and Emily.
However … having a family can get expensive … so I’ve spent the past few years desperately trying to find something to do online to help pay the bills.  Working outside of the house is just not for me.  Being home with my kids is the most important thing to me, so I had to find something online to do.  I tried everything!  And I failed miserably at most of it.  But with each thing that I tried, I kept learning and learning.  Over the years, I’ve learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t work online.
The most important lesson that I’ve learned is that it’s all about making connections.  Whether  you’re doing business online or offline, you’ve got to be making meaningful connections.
That’s what Mommy Bloggers are all about!  And that’s why I started my blog – Mommy Mind Spa.
I started Mommy Mind Spa to just have fun!  I wanted to post something each day that moms would come to and read … and to give them a suggestion of something fun to do that day.  I post each day with a new Mom-ME Moment.  And I don’t know who has more fun with the Mom-ME Moments … I don’t know if my readers have more fun reading them … or if I have more fun writing them!
Mommy Mind Spa allows me to do something fun for me.  Yes … I’m a mom, but I’m also a ME.  That’s what that site is all about.  And I’ve made so many wonderful friends through that blog!
And it’s Mommy Mind Spa that got me started in blog design!  I worked really hard building my own blog … and I had a super fun time doing it!  I guess I did a good job, because many of my readers started asking me about my designer.  When I told them I did it myself, they asked if I could do one for them too!  And that is how Mommy Blog Designs was born!
No … I’m not a technically trained designer.  I don’t pretend to be.  But I am very creative and I love to make things pretty!  I love to play around and I’m not scared to try new things.  I do a lot of hopping around to other blogs to see what’s out there, and I then play around with my many test blogs to figure out how to do things.  I’ve gotten really good at cracking the HTML code!  It’s really not difficult to do.  I’ve taken on HTML … and I’ve WON!!
I am so thrilled to now have my blog design business!  I’m now able to contribute to our monthly expenses and to help out with the family.  I’ve found a way to work from home .. doing something that I absolutely love!  I LOVE making things pretty … and I LOVE hanging out with my fellow mommy bloggers!  I’m in a really amazing place right now, and I’m so happy to be here!
What is your greatest passion?
I’m so excited to say that I now have 2 passions – My first will always be my family.  But I  also now consider my fellow mommy bloggers my family.  Hanging out in the mommy blogger community is definitely a passion now!  I love chatting with all of you … I love blogging … and I love designing.
Favorite snack food?
Broccoli! lol!!  I recently was on a hypnosis weight loss program, and I re-programmed my mind to only crave heathy food.  I love broccoli!!
How did you get started in blog design?
I covered this above … but I really just fell into blog design.  I designed my own MommyMindSpa.com blog, and started getting asked by friends to do blogs for them too.  And that’s how MommyBlogDesigns.com was born!!
Favorite book/author?
Anything nigh Robert Munsch!  I don’t really read adult books.  Hate to admit it, but it’s true!  But I read lots of kiddie books.  And Robert Munsch is definitely a favorite!  I still cry every time I read ‘I Love your Forever’!
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Definitely a night owl!  I do great at night!  I’m at the computer usually until at least midnight or 1am. That’s when I function best and do my best work.  In the past I’ve refused to get out of bed until 7am.  But this year I’m going to have a problem … my son’s school bus picks him up at 7:13.  So I’m going to have to adjust that!  YIKES!!  But then I’m good to go once I have my cup of chocolate milk!
