This post brought to you by Miracle-Gro. All opinions are 100% mine.
I remember one Spring when my friend Lynda’s garden yielded A LOT of zucchini. The zucchini in her garden grew wild that year, and she had so much to give away to friends. I prepared so many recipes with zucchini that summer that it became a bit of a joke in my house. I just couldn’t bare to let any of it go to waste. Lynda’s bounty turned out to be quite a blessing for my family, as it was during a time when money was a bit tight. The abundance of vegetables helped me to stretch my grocery budget.
As far back as I can remember, I have grown an herb garden. I love cooking meals for my family flavored with fresh herbs from my garden. There’s nothing like cooking with home-grown ingredients. Although my own garden has been somewhat limited to a patio garden in recent years, I buy produce from local farmers as much as possible. This year I am expanding my own spring garden to include a salad garden and few other vegetables. I can only hope that it does so well as Lynda’s garden did that year of the bountiful zucchini.
When we grow, we grow more than just plants. As my garden grows, so does my family. All of the kids are getting older, and I hope to pass my love of gardening and cooking with fresh ingredients onto them.
I choose Miracle-Gro for my herb garden, because I want to give my plants their best chance. I will also use it for my vegetable garden this Spring. I like the convenience of using one product for all of my gardening.
Gro Something Greater
I grow a garden to help grow my family, by cooking with homegrown ingredients. Everyone grows for a reason. Some people grow to spend time with their family, or to beautify their community. Some people grow because they love cooking with home-grown ingredients, or because it’s a skill and tradition passed down from generations. Other people grow for personal relaxation, or because they love decorating their homes with cut flowers. Check out Gro Something Greater for ideas on how to grow inspiration, get-togethers, family, possibilities, curiosity, confidence, and much more.
Are you growing something greater than fruit or vegetables?

I don’t have green fingers at all…. it would be so cool to grow your own veg! Looks like I can go try this out again… (and hopefully not fail again!)
I would love to plant a herb garden. I think that should be on my list for this year!
I would love to have a garden like this, but don’t have the room. After all the food documentaries I’ve watched, I only buy organic produce these days.
I have never grown zucchini myself, so I end up trading for as many as I can. Last year, I traded a ton of pavers for zucchini!
We used to grow tomatoes and herbs years ago. We also tried to grow pumpkins but they did not get very big. Neither my hubby or I have green thumbs, but we try every now and then 🙂
We are working on our garden, and have zucchini, summer squash, onions, basil, and thyme. Hopefully, we will harvest these…we’ve experienced 2 gardening casualties already. The potatoes never stood a chance against the dogs, the tomatoes were quite attractive to the birds.
I would love to have an herb garden and Miracle-Gro is definitely the brand I would turn too.
I grow for my family too 🙂 I grow because I love them and want them to be healthy.
