It’s beach bag season! As of last weekend, it is officially summertime. Before you hit the sand and the waves you need to be prepared. The same goes for your backyard or community pool. I have rounded up some pool and beach bag essentials from one of my favorite places to shop, CVS. They have everything you need for before, during, and after your day of fun in the sun. Plus, I love the #ExtraSavings that I always get at CVS! I’m so glad they agreed to partner with me to share my favorite pool and beach bag essentials!
Sun protection is important for everyone, not just pale potatoes like me. I’ll probably go through gallons of sunscreen over the next few months. CVS has a great selection of SPF sunscreen for the whole family. I’m a big fan of the Clear Spray protection in SPF 30. Pictured below is just a small sampling of the sunscreen you will find at CVS.
Before heading out the door, be sure to lather up with your SPF and don’t forget your lips! A big sun hat and sunglasses can also help protect you from the sun.
Just in case you do forget to protect yourself, be sure to pick up some CVS brand AfterSun Aloe Vera Cooling Gel with Lidocaine. I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I’ve had to use this a time or two. If your skin is sensitive to the touch after a day in the sun, I recommend the CVS brand Continuous Spray Moisturizer in Nourishing Cocoa Butter. You just spray it on and it quickly absorbs into your skin.
Don’t forget to bring along some snacks! You’ll work up an appetite if you’re swimming all day. Pack a water bottle and grab some delicious Gold Emblem snacks from CVS. An insulated Igloo cooler will keep your drinks icy cold. I think the Gold Emblem Island Fruit Trial Mix is the perfect tropical treat for the beach.
A day at the beach can sometimes end with a few ouchies. Someone might step on a sharp shell or rock. It’s always a good idea to toss some anti-bacterial bandages into your beach bag.
Wet wipes of some sort are a must for your pool or beach bag. I especially like the CVS Exfoliating Apricot Towelettes. They do a great job of removing sweat and sand after a day of fun in the sun. It’s nice to feel fresh for the trip home. Have you ever tried Dry Shampoo? It’s awesome stuff, especially after you just spent the last 4 hours sweating! It quickly cleans your hair without water, so you can look presentable for any stops you have to make before hitting the shower.
I absolutely love shopping at CVS and have found that they have everything I need to be prepared for a day at the beach or the pool. The #ExtraSavings I get when shopping at CVS can’t be beat. When you stop in for you pool and beach bag essentials, be sure to shop with your CVS ExtraCare Card and earn 2 percent back in ExtraBucks on all your everyday purchases. I shared a bit more about the CVS ExtraCare Program on the blog last year, if you missed it.
What are some of your pool and beach bag essentials?
Happy beaching!

Aloe Vera! Even with sunscreen sometimes you get those god-awful burns that instantly start stinging. I carry aloe with me EVERY WHERE during the summer. I also carry this big, floppy straw hat I found at a garage sale when I was 15, haha. Keeps the sun of my face!
Sunscreen, bottled water, and a great beach book!
I love having sunglasses and chapstick in my bag.
My essentials are many of the ones you have mentioned plus my Kindle Paperwhite for some beach or pool reading! I also grab plenty of water and use a sunscreen lotion on the tops of my hands and face. 🙂 I loved reading this blog post by you. xo
Towels, sun screen, chapstick, water and sunglasses are essential.
My must-haves for the beach and pool are my iPod, sunscreen, lip balm, water and snacks. I usually have my Nexus 7 tablet with me as well.
Some of my favorites are sunscreen, Big floppy straw hat, Aloe Gel, Sunglasses, a good book, iPod, insect repellant, water and snacks.
My essentials are sunscreen, lip balm and sunglasses. MUST have!
