Water is one of those things we often take for granted. We need fresh water to drink, to cook with, and to stay clean. There isn’t a more essential resource on this earth than clean water. What if fresh, clean water weren’t an available resource? Imaging not being able to turn on the facet whenever you need water. This sponsored post is brought to you through my partnership with World Vision.
This essential resource is a luxury that is not afforded to many developing countries. In some developing countries, people, usually the women and young girls, have to walk as much as 6 kilometers, or about 3.7 miles, every single day to get water for their families. Can you imagine? The walk is long, dangerous and the water that the people get is usually contaminated with life threatening diseases. But, all hope is not lost. Please join me with Team World Vision for the Global 6K for Water to help raise funds for World Vision’s water programs.
Please Join Me and Run/Walk in the Global 6K for Water
On Saturday, May 6, 2017 people from around the globe will be walking or running a 6K to support World Vision’s water initiatives through the World Vision Global 6K for Water. The Global 6K for Water is an event organized by Team World Vision, which is a passionate group of people who run, walk, and race to help children get access to clean water. Team World Vision’s water projects works together with World Vision’s work in other key areas of development like health, education, food, and economic development. The goal is to tackle the root of poverty and to give children to chance to experience the fullness of life.
What: Global 6K for Water
When: May 6, 2017
Where: Wherever you are
Cause: Clean Water
How to Participate
Each person who participates in the Team World Vision Global 6K for Water pays a $50 registration fee that goes to support World Vision’s water programs. After registration, the participant will receive a World Vision Global 6 K for water t-shirt, a race bib that has a photo of a child that you can sponsor and a race metal in the mail.
You don’t have to be an athlete to participate in the Global 6K for Water. I certainly am not. I’m not in any kind of shape to run it, but will be walking alongside my friends and family to show my support for this very important cause.
Want more ways to become involved? Join a local host site to run/walk in the 6K or become a host site yourself. Work together with your church, school or community club to register as a host. Start a virtual team with your friends and family, even if you are spread all across the country. You can all run/walk in your own communities on the race day. You can also create your own individual race starting at your own front door or in your house on a treadmill. Get the kids involved to help support the global effort for clean water. For kids under 15, there is a reduce registration fee of $25.
I hope you’ll join me in participating in this very important, life-saving initiative. Sign up today!
Team World Vision was founded in 2006 and has helped more than 30,000 people cross finish lines to raise $30 million for World Vision’s work around the world.
What a great cause! Everyone should have access to clean water.
It’s sad that something like clean drinking water is not guaranteed to everyone. How sad that this has to be something to be aware of and not something that everyone has.
what a wonderful cause. I would totally do this. I would walk but i would do it.
What a truly wonderful cause. Nobody should have to worry about where something so basic a need as water is coming from. Have a great walk in May!
This is a great way to raise awareness about the lack of clean water. I think it is terrible in this day and age people are still having to walk so far to get clean water.
This is a great event and such an important cause! I was not familiar with this event and I will be looking to see if there is one local I can support.
This is a great cause. Water is life and everyone deserves access to clean water. <3
Thanks for sharing this info!
What a wonderful cause. We complain so much but we are so lucky to live in a place where we just need to turn on a faucet for water.
I love when fitness events are for a great cause like this. I need to check for it in my area.
