That time I forgot my inhaler…

This time of the year can be tough for people who are prone to colds and allergies, especially if you suffer from asthma. Being caught without your rescue inhaler can be scary. There was that time I forgot my inhaler while traveling. Luckily, I was able to buy over the counter Primatene Mist to get me through.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Primatene® MIST. All opinions are 100% mine.

This time of the year can be tough for people who are prone to colds and allergies, especially if you suffer from asthma. I’ve been really sick these last few weeks. As I write this post I’m still on the tail end of a very stubborn respiratory infection, but I’m feeling better than I was a couple of weeks ago or even a few days ago. Because I have asthma, I’m used to getting respiratory infections but the struggling to breathe part is something I’ll never get used to. I don’t think I’ve ever written about my asthma here on the blog which is kind of surprising considering how long I’ve been at this. It is personal, and honestly I try to not be a complainer when it comes to my health and other things. I do want to talk about that time I forgot my inhaler.

When my respiratory infection was at its worst, I received an email with an opportunity to write about Primatene® MIST. It seemed meant to be. This OTC inhaler has really helped me out of a jam with my asthma. I have purchased Primatene® MIST in the past, though I have multiple prescriptions for maintenance inhalers, Albuterol vials for my nebulizer and a rescue inhaler. My co-pays on these prescriptions are outrageous and if I find myself in need before they can be filled again… I’m out of luck.

Being able to breath is necessary, and in the past this product has really helped me in my time of need. I didn’t know for the longest time that there is an over the counter asthma inhaler out there, and I know I am not alone.

That time I forgot my inhaler…

The first time I purchased Primatene® MIST I was on a short business trip. I had left my rescue inhaler at home. It was winter and my lungs were struggling to adjust to the colder temps in NYC. Needless to say, I went into a panic which only further tightened my chest. Luckily, there was a pharmacy not far from my hotel. However, I learned when I got there that it was too soon for my insurance company to fill my prescription. Thankfully, the pharmacist suggested I try Primatene® MIST and it got me through the rest of my trip.

I wish I could say that was the only time I’ve left home without my rescue inhaler. I tend to forget things when I’m in a hurry and I’m ALWAYS in a hurry. When you have asthma, not having your rescue inhaler with you can put you at great risk. I haven’t had to worry quite as much since learning I could buy Primatene® MIST without a prescription.

Primatene® MIST is the ONLY over the counter asthma inhaler for temporary relief of mild symptoms of intermittent asthma. It is available over the counter, in stores and online via retailer websites. You can buy it in-store at CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens and it will be available at Walmart too starting November 11th. You’ll find it online at CVS, Walgreens and Walmart. Don’t let asthma hold you back.

Breathing is one of those things I think a lot people take for granted. It’s something you just do without thinking… breathe in… breathe out. But, if you’ve ever experienced asthma or another lung condition, breathing is something you think about a LOT.

I get so frustrated sometimes over having asthma. I hate being tied to my inhalers and nebulizer. I’m a very active person. I’m also a very determined person which means I don’t let asthma keep me from doing the things I want to do. It is nice to know there is an over the counter option when my prescription rescue inhaler isn’t accessible.

  • This is great info. I have exercise induced asthma and too many times will leave to house to meet up with friends for a run having forgotten to use the inhaler. It would be good to have a backup to keep in the car.

  • Hi Angela, I do understand your plight. So many times I forgot to carry my inhaler but this one time it got really bad. Since then I try to keep a spare inhaler in my bag and one at home.

  • Wow, this is truly a great piece, I understand the feeling quite well and will have a slight panic fit, but I always try to make sure I carry one with me at all times!
