Having lived in Georgia for secen years before making the decision to move back to Florida, the city of Atlanta is near and dear to my heart. With plenty of attractions, hotels, and world class restaurants, Atlanta is a wonderful family vacation destination in the southeast. From most major cities, you can usually get a great deal on flights to Atlanta, but it is also a nice road trip destination or stop along the way to the coastal beaches. In fact, my family will be heading that way this June!
Not sure where to go for your summer vacation? I’ve put together a list of some of my favorite Atlanta area attractions that might help you make up your mind! You’ll never run out of things to do when visiting Atlanta.

If you plan to be in Atlanta for a few days and want to hit up multiple attractions, I highly recommend the Atlanta City Pass. You can save quite a bit of money with the City Pass!
Also, well known for its high end shopping, world-class restaurants and hotels, Buckhead is my favorite part of Atlanta to stay in when visiting. There are also some fantastic theaters in Buckhead. On a recent visit to Atlanta I saw one of my favorite bands, Pop Evil, at The Buckhead Theatre. It’s a nice smaller venue for a more intimate show.
Where to stay in Atlanta?
My favorite place to stay is DoubleTree by Hilton Atlanta – Buckhead. The location can’t be beat. It is close to Lenox Mall and The Buckhead Theatre. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping within walking distance. Also, the hotel restaurant and bar are great for meeting with friends and business associates. Guest rooms are super comfy and I always look forward to getting a warm, fresh-baked chocolate chip cookie at check-in. It is SO good! Many thanks to DoubleTree by Hilton for providing me with a media rate for my most recent stay.
