Finding the right book for your child is the key to getting them to read more. Take the time to figure out which types of books they really enjoy. My little girl enjoys books that make her laugh and the first book in the Toy Academy series, Toy Academy: Some Assembly Required does just that! It’s a super fun book by Brian Lynch, the writer of the movies Minions and The Secret Life of Pets, with illustrations by Edwardian Taylor, and is guaranteed to make your child giggle.
This laugh-out-loud book is perfect for readers ages 7 – 10, and is available now from Scholastic.
Toy Academy: Some Assembly Required
Toy Academy is where toys learn to play. Imagine action figures training to battle, stuffed animals who study the art of the hug, and collectibles practicing to stand very, very still. Playing is serious business. This fun-filled chapter book tells the story of a new toy named Grumbolt who becomes a student at Toy Academy, so that he can learn to play and be paired up with the perfect kid.
Learning how to play isn’t as easy as you might think. Each passing day at Toy Academy got tougher and tougher for Grumbalt, and he wasn’t sure where he fit in. Things get really interesting for Grumbalt when the Evil Toy Academy threatens to bring down his school. It’s up to Grumbolt to go where no good toy has gone before and prove he’s truly a great toy after all.
When Grumbalt has to sneak into the Evil Toy Academy, he puts everything he has learned from his classes to the test. His pillow-fighting technique, ability to play-pretend and talent for soothing someone to sleep all come in handy. In the end, Grumbalt saves his school and learns his true purpose.
Playing is serious business.
We enjoyed reading this book so much. It’s a fun read with plenty of adventure, and lots of laugh-out-loud moments. the illustrations by Edwardian Taylor are fantastic and there are many illustrations throughout the entire book. This book is a classic in the making.
Toy Academy: Some Assembly Required is in stores now and available from Scholastic.

Finding just the right books to get kids interested in reading is something I love to do for my niece & nephew.
My boys really have a hard time finding good books that are suitable for them. There are a few but many times they start reading and lose interest quite easily.
This looks like the perfect book for my niece. She is getting better and better at reading and loving it.
My grandson would really enjoy reading this book! Sounds great!
