Before you know, you’ll be doing your holiday baking. You’ll be covered in sprinkles and powdered sugar, and your kitchen will be filled with the aromas of the holidays. How would you like to BAKE LIKE A BOSS this holiday season? Buddy Valastro, the Cake Boss, makes delicious and beautiful cakes in his New Jersey bakery, and he entertains millions with his television show. Buddy recently launched a line of Cake Boss cake mixes and frostings that you can buy in stores, so that we can now all bake like a boss. I have been a fan of his show for years and jumped at the chance to review one of his new cake mixes, frosting, and some cakeware. I received several pieces of Buddy’s new cakeware, and used the 6-Cup Round Cakelette Pan to make some Triple Chocolate Cakelettes.
I cook and bake from scratch whenever I can, but sometimes a quality boxed cake mix can be just as good. I like to add things to cake and frosting mixes, and make them my own creation. Baking beautiful and delicious cakes with a Cake Boss mix as the base is so easy. Â To make my Triple Chocolate Cakelettes, I used a Cake Boss Decadent Devil’s Food Cake Mix and Whole Lotta Chocolate prepared frosting as the filling. To top off the cakelettes, I made a simple chocolate ganache.
Prepare the cake mix according to package directions. Fill the Cake Boss Cakelette pan, like you would a muffin tin. Also, if you don’t have a cakelette pan, just use a muffin tin.
Next, please humor me. Imagine if you will the cakelette pan overflowing with hot puffy cake. I totally forgot tot take a picture of them straight out of the oven. Don’t be alarmed that the cakes aren’t level with the pan. It’s simple enough to cut off any excess from the bottom with a knife, and provides a tasty snack for you.
Create the surprise. Open a tub of Cake Boss frosting, and spoon into a pastry bag fitted with a tip. Insert the tip into the top of each cakelette, and squeeze from frosting into the cake.
Place a wire rack on top of a baking sheet. Prepare the chocolate ganache (recipe below). Put cakelettes on top of wire rack and spoon ganache over each cake, until completely covered. Allow to set.
I have a pretty good reputation for making delicious cakes, but not so much when it comes to pretty cakes. I am thrilled with how simple it was to create something that is both delicious and pretty with the help of my new Cake Boss products. I fancied up my cakelettes with some yellow butter cream flowers I had left over from a cake I recently made. You could also garnish your cakes with a few raspberries and a dollop of whipped cream. That would be very pretty.
