U by Kotex for Tweens | I’ll Always be a #KotexMom

As a mom to three girls and now a grandma to two tween girls, I’ve done a lot of talking about periods and womanhood. As part of a multi-generation household, I get the privilege of being very involved in my grandchildren’s lives. The lines of communication are much more open with my granddaughters, than they were with my daughters. Gone are the days of handing your kids a book. Information about puberty and first periods is readily available from companies like U by Kotex and products are now specially designed for tweens and teens, like the colorfully packaged and smaller sized U by Kotex pads and liners.

When I was a girl we didn’t have “the talk”. The communication was a little better when my daughter’s were girls. I gave them a book to read, but “the talk” didn’t really happen until after they started their periods. I talk to my granddaughters about anything and everything… even about who Justin Bieber is or isn’t dating.

Over the weekend, I took my daughter and granddaughters to the movies and then to McDonald’s for a treat. We had a lot of fun and it was the perfect opportunity to give them calendars we received from Kotex, to help them keep track of their periods. We talked about how it’s normal for their periods to be irregular in the beginning, but keeping track on a calendar having their period kits handy will help them to always be prepared.

During my ambassadorship as a Kotex Mom, we’ve touched on a lot of different topics related to first periods and puberty. My granddaughters and I have explored the U by Kotex Hello Period web site to see what questions others girl are asking. I have to admit that I was a little surprised by some of the questions and even learned a few things myself. I am so very thankful that girls and moms have Kotex as a resource to get their questions answered by experts. I’ve even had young girls leave comments on some of my past Kotex Mom blog posts, seeking answers to questions about their periods. It felt really good to know that I could assure them and point them in the right direction for the answers they needed.

I look forward to the next generation of young women in my family, and hope I’ll still be around to help guide them into womanhood. I believe in the Kotex brand and truly appreciate their dedication to helping young girls. I guess you could say that I’ll always be a #KotexMom.

For more information about first periods and products available for tween girls, visit Kotex Tween online. It’a a great reference point to prepare for having “the talk” with your daughter.
