It’s on this Veterans Day that we honor all the men and women who have served in the armed services. We honor those who have served in the past and present, and those who have fallen. There are many ways to celebrate Veterans Day like attending a Veterans Day event or parade in your community, or participate in a moment of silence in honor of those who have served our country. I hope you’ll also take a moment to honor the people who support our Veterans.
Veterans sacrifice so much for all of us, including time away from their families. As a former military spouse, I remember the personal sacrifices my husband made while serving such as missing the first few months of his son’s life. It was always so difficult for him to be away from his family for months at a time. My husband was deployed just days after the birth of our son. I scanned the picture below to show that special day when my son’s father held him for the first time, after three long months.
It wasn’t always easy being a military spouse, so I am extremely appreciative of the recent photo contest hosted by Wahl and Military Spouse Magazine. Wahl and Military Spouse Magazine recently hosted a photo contest to recognize men and women everywhere who run a household while their spouse is serving our country. Military spouses were asked to capture a special moment with their partner or family and submit their photos. Wahl and Military Spouse Magazine then awarded one military family with $1,000.
While there could only be one winner, Wahl is honoring all the families who shared their heartfelt photos, and the many more who serve our country, with a special Veteran’s Day video that brings these amazing images to life.
