Why choose mineral makeup?
I have been wearing mineral makeup for quite a few years. The skin condition, Rosacea, has left me with sensitive skin that is red, blotchy, and prone to breakouts. For years I struggled with finding a foundation that provided the coverage I need, without irritating my skin. At long last I was introduced to the wonders of mineral makeup.
It’s not so much important what ingredients they put into mineral makeup, rather it’s what they don’t put in it. Most manufactures of mineral cosmetics leave out preservatives, chemical dyes, fragrance, talc, parabens, and the list goes on. Mineral makeup is lightweight, pure, soothing, provides a natural sunscreen, and doesn’t age the skin.
Recently, I had the chance to try the Pressed Powder Compact from Advanced Mineral Makeup. The all-in-one foundation, powder, and concealer also includes SPF protection. It is fabulous for women on-the-go who don’t have a lot of time, but still want to look great! The pressed powder can be applied with a cosmetic sponge or brush. I prefer to use a large, soft brush and can swipe it onto my face in a matter of seconds. Typically, I don’t wear a lot of makeup but foundation is a must to cover the redness. The pressed powder from Advanced Minerals provides me with fantastic coverage, while still feeling light.
Advanced Mineral Makeup is 100% Vegan
I reviewed the makeup in the color Angelina. It’s not the lightest color available, but still seems to be a good match for my fair skin tone. One of the things I adore about mineral makeup, is it’s water resistance. If you live in an area with squelching hot summers, you won’t have to worry about your makeup melting off your face. It stays put all day long.
It’s important to note that mineral makeup can sometimes leave your skin flaky and collect in the fine lines and pores of your skin. While Advanced Minerals doesn’t collect in the fine lines and pores as much as other brands I have used, I do still have an issue with dry skin. I have found this is easily remedied by using a good moisturizer. It’s essential that I apply a good moisturizer to my skin at night and again just before applying my makeup. Works like a charm!
As far as price, Advanced Mineral Makeup seems to be in the middle of the pack. It’s not as affordable as some brands, but is definitely not the most expensive option available. The Pressed Powder Compact currently retails for $38.50.

I tried mineral makeup powders in the past and didn’t like them. I think they take a lot of getting used to. It doesn’t feel anything like regular foundation and powders so it can be a big adjustment. I like that it is water resistant and includes a built in SPF.
