Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a skillet on MEDIUM. Add the sausage meat. Cook until browned.
Add your marinara sauce over the browned sausage meat and season with salt and pepper to taste. Turn down the heat and simmer for 8–10 minutes.
Boil a pot of water. Add the spaghetti. Cook only until al dente, as indicated on the package.
Add the spaghetti to the skillet of sausage meat and mix thoroughly.
Transfer to a baking dish and top with cheese. Place it in the oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and golden brown. Top with basil and serve.
Notes
Under-boil the spaghetti slightly so it can absorb the rich flavors of the sauce when baked.
Use quality marinara sauce and sausage for the best flavors.
Don't skimp on the dried basil or salt and pepper.
