Ingredients
  

  • 1 15.5 oz package Hurst BBQ Style Cowboy Beans
  • 4 cups beef broth2 cups water
  • 1 lbs ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  • 2 4oz cans diced green chiles
  • 2 14.5oz can diced tomatoes
  • 6 oz can tomato paste
  • Hot sauce to taste

Instructions
 

  • Rinse and sort through the dry beans. Check for any unwanted debris and discard.
  • Cook ground beef in a sauté pan until browned. Drain off grease.
  • Pour rinsed beans into slow cooker. Add the cooked beef, onion, garlic, green chiles, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, chili powder, and seasoning packet. Add a few drops of hot sauce, to taste.
  • Add broth and water, and give it a quick stir. Put lid on slow cooker.
  • Cook on high for 4 ½ to 5 ½ hours or on low for 8 ½ to 9 ½ hours, until beans are tender.
  • Remove lid during last 30 minutes of cooking time to get a thicker consistency.
  • Garnish with shredded cheddar and sour cream and serve with corn chips or crackers.

Equipment - Slow Cooker (6 quart or larger)
