Cowboys love their chili, but you don't have to be a cowboy to appreciate this hearty slow cooker cowboy chili recipe. Made using Hurst BBQ Style Cowboy Beans with seasoning packet, ground beef, diced green chiles and a few other ingredients - this slow cooker chili recipe couldn't be any simpler.
Rinse and sort through the dry beans. Check for any unwanted debris and discard.
Cook ground beef in a sauté pan until browned. Drain off grease.
Pour rinsed beans into slow cooker. Add the cooked beef, onion, garlic, green chiles, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, chili powder, and seasoning packet. Add a few drops of hot sauce, to taste.
Add broth and water, and give it a quick stir. Put lid on slow cooker.
Cook on high for 4 ½ to 5 ½ hours or on low for 8 ½ to 9 ½ hours, until beans are tender.
Remove lid during last 30 minutes of cooking time to get a thicker consistency.
Garnish with shredded cheddar and sour cream and serve with corn chips or crackers.
