Dried apple ornaments are very easy to make and look so festive simply hung on a tree, on a string or made into beautiful holiday wreaths.

What You’ll Need

An apple
2 cups lemon juice
1 tablespoon salt
Shellac and paint brush

Begin by polishing your apple with a soft cloth. Slice the apple from top to bottom. You’ll probably get 4 good slices from the apple, as the end slices are to be discarded (or eaten).

Soak the apple slices for 3 minutes in a solution of 2 cups lemon juice and 1 tablespoon salt. Drain, poke a hole near the top (if stringing) and bake the slices for 6 hours at 150 degrees. The lemon juice/salt solution may be reused for additional apples.

Shellac both sides and, when dry, your apple slices are ready.
