Each holiday season I try to put my personal touch on gift giving. I like to give some of the same products that I personally use and love, and also like to add my personal touch when wrapping the packages. My family always seem to always know by the gift wrap which gifts are from me. I usually make my own bows and sometimes even my own wrapping paper. This is a sponsored post about holiday gift sets at Walmart. All opinions are my own.

Add a Personal Touch with DIY Gift Wrap

Two things that I always have in abundance this time of the year are brown Kraft paper for shipping gifts, and yarn for my knitting. These two items are all you need to recreate the wrapped package you see below.  I buy the brown Kraft paper at Walmart. It’s usually located over by the shipping and office supplies. It’s the perfect blank canvas for personalized wrapping paper and is very affordable.

I’ve been using a lot of yarn pom poms in my holiday decorating. I love the way they look on this package.

Walmart also has the best personal care gift packs at the lowest prices. This year, you can give the gift of style with gift packs that will keep everyone on your list looking and feeling good. They have a wide range of gift packs from some of your favorite brands like AXE, Dove, and Caress at prices you’ll love.

I have personally love and have used Dove products for years, so naturally I picked up the Dove® Deep Moisture Gift Bag for my daughters, and one for myself too. The 5-piece Dove® Deep Moisture Gift Bag is the perfect gift for the holidays and contains everything needed to stay soft and smooth during the harsh winter months.

The Dove® Deep Moisture Gift Bag is a really great value too. The five included products would cost more than $27, if sold separately. I paid less than $20 for this gift set at Walmart. The items come packaged in a very nice travel toiletry bag. It’s such a thoughtful and practical gift that both men and women will love.

Unwrap the joy of freshness this holiday season with a great gift pack!

My Walmart has a couple of other Dove gift sets, along Caress and several different AXE personal care gift packs. Each is a little different, but they are all so practical and nicely packaged. You’ll want to check out your own Walmart store to see which ones are available.

Once you have your gift packs wrapped in brown Kraft paper, you’ll need to make some pom poms to recreate the look of my wrapped package. The pom poms are so easy to make.

How to Make a Yarn Pom Pom

First, cut off a 7-8″ piece of yarn to tie on the pom at the end and set is aside. Grab one end of the yarn between your thumb and pointer finger. Wrap the yarn around your fingers, so it’s slightly snug, but not tight.

Once your fingers are covered with several layers of the yarn, clip it with scissors. It may take a couple of tries to figure out how much yarn you want for each pom, but you’ll get a feel for it.

If there is a tricky part in this project, this is it. Use your free hand to work the wrapped yarn off the wrapped hand, pinching it in the middle with your fingers, so it stays together. This is why it’s important not to wrap it too tight!

Take the 7-8″ piece of yarn you cut off in the beginning and tie it tightly around the cinched middle of the pom, double-knotted. Kids are great helpers for this. You can have your child press a finger onto the yarn to help you make a tight knot.

Clip all of the loops in half with scissors.

As you clip, you’ll start to see the pom take shape. Give it a little fluffing with your fingers to make sure all of the loops are cut. You might need to give your pom pom a little trim, to give it a nice round shape.

When making your own wrapping paper and bows, the possibilities are endless. Just make it festive and fun!
