I think I’ve died and gone to chocolate heaven! Chocolate Mousse is one of those desserts that is perfect for a celebration.

Chocolate mousse served in shot glasses, each topped with a dark chocolate sphere.

Yesterday for our New Year’s Eve celebration, I made my chocolate mousse even more decadent by topping it with DOVE® Whole Fruit Dipped in Dark Chocolate.

Chocolate Mousse is a deceptive dessert. The airy whipped texture gives the illusion of a light dessert, but after a few bites you realize just how decadent and rich it is. A little of this dessert goes a long way, so I like to serve it in shot glasses. Plus, everything is cuter in miniature. I topped each chocolate mousse shooter with DOVE® Whole Blueberries Dipped In Dark Chocolate. Not only was it a lovely presentation, but also a delicious surprise for my friends and family.

Available in three varieties of real, whole fruit – cranberry, cherry and blueberry, DOVE® Fruit uses a divine combination of real fruit dipped in silky smooth DOVE® Dark Chocolate. As the #1 solid dark chocolate on the market, the unique, silky-smooth taste of DOVE® Dark Chocolate does not disappoint, living up to people’s expectations of what chocolate should taste like.

Along with my chocolate mousse, I placed a bowl of each Dove Fruit variety – cranberry, cherry and blueberry, onto the dessert table. I felt like such a good host, providing my guests with a delicious treat that provides the healthy benefits of dark chocolate and whole fruit.

I have goals to live a healthier lifestyle in 2015 which can be a bit of a challenge for someone like me with a serious sweet tooth. I think a few pieces DOVE® Whole Fruit Dipped in Dark Chocolate will help me satisfy those cravings, without the guilt that usually comes from sweet treats.

If you have a celebration coming up, I highly recommend this Chocolate Mousse recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 4 egg yolks
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 cup whipping (heavy) cream
  • 1 package (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips (1 cup)
  • 1 ½ cups whipping (heavy) cream
  • DOVE® Whole Fruit Dipped in Dark Chocolate (for garnish)

Instructions:

Step 1: In a small bowl, beat egg yolks with an electric mixer on high speed, for about 3 minutes or until thick and lemon colored. Gradually beat in the sugar.

Step 2: In 2-quart saucepan, heat 1 cup whipping cream over medium heat until hot. Gradually stir at least half of the hot whipping cream into egg yolk mixture, then stir the egg mixture back into hot cream in saucepan. Cook over low heat for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. Be sure mixture does not boil. Stir in chocolate chips until melted. Cover and refrigerate for about 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

Step 3: In a chilled medium bowl, beat 1 1/2 cups whipping cream with electric mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form. Fold the chocolate mixture into the whipped cream. Pipe or spoon mixture into serving shot glasses. Top each with a piece of DOVE® Whole Fruit Dipped in Dark Chocolate. Immediately refrigerate any remaining dessert after serving.

I love the Dove fruit, but I’ve never thought to use them in any way other than eating them plain. This looks so tasty and classy.

Okay, this looks amazing. And I love that I could rationalize eating a whole bag of that DOVE fruit because it does contain fruit, after all šŸ™‚

I never knew there was Dove fruit. I will definitely have to look for it in the store. We really like dark chocolate dipped fruit as a little treat.
