Each decadent layer of this chocolate mousse gets darker and more intense in flavor.

I have given this dessert the name Darker Layered Mousse to play off of the film “Fifty Shades Darker” which is now available on iTunes and coming to Blu-ray and DVD May 9th.

Darker Layered Mousse served in a glass, topped with whipped cream and silver sprinkles.

Creamy layers of dark chocolate, Nutella chocolate, and milk chocolate make this tantalizing dessert something you and your girlfriends will not soon forget.

This indulgent layered chocolate mousse is the perfect sweet treat for your Girls Night In this weekend. Call a few of your favorite gal pals and whip up this appropriately intense dessert for a FIFTY SHADES DARKER movie night.

Stay in and slip into something darker this weekend.

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson star in the second tantalizing installment of the global phenomenon sparked by E.L. James’ best-selling book trilogy returns with the second chapter of the darkly alluring tale that captivated the world. Fans can now stay in and have the ultimate Girls Night In with Fifty Shades Darker Unrated Edition, and this time, there are no rules and no secrets. The release comes with deleted and extended scenes and an all-new sneak peek of Fifty Shades Freed.

Make plans to stay in and slip into something darker this weekend.

This is a rich dessert, so you can totally get away with serving it in shooter glasses. However, if you truly want to indulge serve in wine or champagne glasses.

Indulge.

Darker Layered Mousse served in stemless glasses, topped with whipped cream and silver sprinkles.

Darker Layered Mousse

yields: approximately 8-12 servings (Will vary based on the size of your serving glasses.)

Nutella Mousse:
1 cup Nutella chocolate hazelnut spread, divided
2 cups heavy whipping cream

Dark Chocolate Mousse:
1/2 bag (approximately 5 ounces) dark chocolate chips
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons hot water
1 cup heavy whipping cream
3 eggs
1 tablespoon sugar

Milk Chocolate Mousse:
1/2 bag (approximately 5 ounces) milk chocolate chips
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons hot water
1 cup heavy whipping cream
3 eggs
1 tablespoon sugar

First Layer (Nutella Mousse): Whip cream until you almost have stiff peaks. Add the Nutella into the cream gradually (2 to 3 smaller portions), continuing to whip gently until combined. Spoon the Nutella Mousse into the bottom of serving glasses, about 1/3 of the way up the glass. Place in the refrigerator until it has set, about 30 minutes.

While the Nutella Mousse layer is setting, prepare the next layer.

Second Layer (Dark Chocolate Mousse): Melt dark chocolate chips with the unsalted butter over a double boiler. When the mixture is halfway melted, add two tablespoons of hot water to the mixture. Stir occasionally until the mixture is smooth. Remove chocolate mixture from heat and cool slightly. Whip cream until soft peaks form. Separate eggs, then, whip the egg whites until they begin to form soft peaks. Add in the sugar. When the chocolate mixture has cooled slightly, stir in the yolks until combined. Fold in whipped cream and the whipped egg whites, adding thirds of each mixture in an alternating fashion, and mix until well combined. Spoon the dark chocolate mousse on top of the Nutella layer, about 2/3 way up the glass. Place in the refrigerator until it has set, about 30 minutes.

While the Dark Chocolate Mousse layer is setting, prepare the next layer.

Third Layer (Milk Chocolate Mousse): Melt milk chocolate chips with the unsalted butter over a double boiler. Spoon the milk chocolate mousse on top of the dark chocolate mousse layer, almost to the top of the glass. Place in the refrigerator until it has set, about 30 minutes.

Serve cold and top with whipped cream if desired.
