Back in April, I shared my chicken pot pie for two recipe which was inspired by my dog Winston’s favorite meal – Rachael Ray Nutrish Chicken Paw Pie. That was a particularly difficult period of time for us. It was shortly after the loss of Winston’s sister, Lilly. We needed all the comforting we could get and chicken pot pie helped.
Winston is a very social dog and really missed having a companion.
Slowly our hearts are healing and it’s partly due to a new family member. We took in a new rescue dog named Fionna. She was a puppy mill breeder who ended up at the animal rescue with a broken jaw and 3 tiny puppies in tow. Fionna has a lot of spunk in her. I think that’s what got her through multiple surgeries and a difficult healing process. She’s such a miracle dog.
It’s hard to believe Fionna had never been a pet before. She has settled right in and loves being spoiled.
Isn’t she just the cutest thing ever? It’s hard for me to understand the cruelty of others and it hurts my heart to think there are so many other abused and abandoned animals like Fionna out there, longing for a loving furever home. I wish I could take them all in. It’s no surprise that my pet owner profile is The Animal Rescue Advocate.
Rescue dogs and cats make such wonderful pets. Fionna is such a sweet girl and loves playing with all her toys.
Having another dog in the house has brought a spark back to Winston. It’s so nice to see him playing with his new sister. He’s done a good job of showing her the ropes. It was evident that Fionna had been mostly kept in a cage or a small pen at the puppy mill. She wasn’t so sure about things like walking on the grass. Winston has been setting such a good example for her.
Fionna also likes chewing on her brother’s ears. Sometimes Winston jumps up onto the back of the chair to get a break from her. Winston is getting older and having a little sister can be exhausting at times.
I just love being a pet parent. Dogs do the funniest things and are so entertaining. They also love unconditionally.
I am so excited to tell you about the Rachael Ray Nutrish “Fur Real Pet Moments” meme contest. Because Rachael Ray Nutrish knows pet parents, they created the “Fur Real Pet Moments” meme generator to celebrate those times where you just know you’re a pet parent. Being a pet parent isn’t always easy. For instance, you bought your dog or cat a toy, but all they cared about was the box or their favorite chew toy is your finger while you’re sleeping. I can totally relate to that. Both of my dogs love chewing up cardboard boxes! Being a pet parent might not always be easy, but it’s totally worth the effort!
