Last month I took part in a wonderful gathering of food bloggers in Asheville, NC for the Food Blog Forum annual conference. Foodtopia Asheville was the perfect setting for this meeting of foodie minded bloggers. One of our excursions brought us to Hickory Nut Gap Farm in Asheville, a family owned farm with sustainable agriculture practices.
Hickory Nut Gap Farm raises grass-fed cattle for beef, pasteurized pork and poultry, and offers u-pick organic apples and berries. Nature was all around us at the farm. You could see it, smell it, and taste it. I was really wishing I had brought my camera along on this trip, but did manage to snap a few half-way decent pics with my smartphone. I thought it might be nice to share some with you.
Can you imagine living in this sweet little farm house, surrounded by sunflowers?
After sampling some of the grass-fed beef the farm is famous for, we set out on a walking tour of the farm. It was A LOT of walking, but totally worth it.
This farm is splendid. It was neat seeing biodiversity and sustainability in action.
There is some great history at this place. The farm has been in the McClure family since 1916. If you are traveling in the Asheville area, I encourage you to stop by Hickory Nut Gap Farm to shop at the farm store and visit with the McClure family.
Wow what a beautiful place, looks like a fun time as well 🙂
What a neat place to visit. I would love to see that farm some day.
Looks like a really fun trip and the pictures are great. I bet the grass fed beef was good.
I love to be in outdoors and in easy access of nature. Staying in a farm would be ideal for me.
I thought this kind of place only exists in the movies. It’s awesome to live in the farm with serenity and peace and fresh veggies and produce. How far away is it from the city?
I’m not that far from Ashville, and this makes me want to make a trip there to visit the Hickory Nut Gap Farm! Love your photos!
WOW this looks like quite the charming place to visit
What a laid back place, how amazing it must be to relax there.
So this is what I missed. Such a bummer, but I’m glad you’re showing it off for me!
That looks like a really wonderful place to enjoy the outdoors – and a long walk is one of my favourite ways to get exercise!
