When thinking about Fall one of the first things that comes to mind is pumpkin… carving pumpkins, decorating with pumpkins, and of course eating pumpkins. It seems only natural that we would incorporate pumpkin into Fall crafts for kids. This Edible Pumpkin Playdough recipe is a fun fall activity for kids.

Playdough is something that most children enjoy playing with. If your child is at a stage where everything goes into the mouth, try this edible recipe. This homemade pumpkin playdough recipe smells amazing for the fall season and tastes pretty good too. It is a safer playdough option for younger children.

This homemade playdough was originally published on About a Mom in October of 2012. I decided that now is a good time to give it a refresh and bring it back to the home page.

Edible Pumpkin Playdough Recipe

Supplies Needed:

Mixing bowl
Spoon
1 cup canned pumpkin
2 ounces of honey
2 cups flour
2 cups powdered milk
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
Red food coloring
Yellow food coloring
Plastic Container

Directions:

Add 1 cup pumpkin to the bowl. Pour over honey and mix with spoon until well combined and smooth.

Add flour, powdered milk, and pumpkin pie spice to the bowl. Stir the playdough until the dry ingredients are moistened. Work the dough with your hands to knead in all of the ingredients. You may need to add additional four and powdered milk at this point, 2 tablespoons at a time, until you get the consistency of bread dough.

Once all of your ingredients are combined, add 4 drops of red food coloring and 2 drops of yellow food coloring to the dough. Using your hands, knead the food coloring into the dough. This should give your playdough the bright orange color of a pumpkin.

We had fun cutting shapes out of the playdough with our Halloween cookie cutters. This edible pumpkin playdough recipe is a lot of fun to make and  play with. This is a terrific Halloween activity for kids!

How to Store Edible Playdough

Store pumpkin playdough in a zip-loc bag or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days and if it starts to dry out you can knead in a few drops of water.

Not listed as a separate part is a gasket in the bottom of each blade.
Take the low-carb tortilla or wrap and put about a tablespoon
or two of cream on it. You can place a lettuce leaf on a plate and put a scoop of chicken salad
in the middle and serve with reduced calorie crackers.
