Today is our first day of school! The summer has blow by so fast. I can’t believe it is time for another school year. T is a fourth grader now, and this milestone has brought with it a lot of emotion. A new school year brings with it new teachers, reconnecting with old classmates, making new friends, and knowledge, of course. To document the occasion we took first some first day of school pictures. I made a first day of school sign printable that I am sharing with you today, along with some photo ideas.
Disclosure: I’m proud to be partnering with CVS Pharmacy to help spread the word about their photo services. All opinions expressed are my own, and all product claims or program details shared should be verified at CVS.com or with the appropriate manufacturers.
It is always so much fun to see all of my friends sharing first day of school pictures on Facebook. I was excited to share our picture with everyone today. I’ve already ordered same day wallet photos from CVS Photo to share with grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
First Day of School Sign Printable
Simply download and print (in landscape) the image below. Be sure to select fit to page and take a look at the preview just to be sure. You can personalize it by having your child write their name on it with a white crayon or marker. You can also do like I did and use PicMonkey or some other photo editing software to add the text.
I printed the sign then placed it into an 8×10 picture frame. However, the picture frame isn’t necessary. If you are placing the first day of school sign into a frame, I recommend putting the glass behind the sign to help prevent glare.
If possible, take your photos outside in natural light or make sure there is plenty of natural light streaming through the windows. The morning light in front of our house is great for taking photos. I’m happy with how these turned out.
CVS Photo has wallet prints available for same day pickup. You can currently get a set of 4 (4×6) wallet prints for just $0.99. Mine were ready after just a few hours. I love that convenience! I know that T’s grandparents are really going to appreciate getting these.

I’m seriously thinking about ordering an 8×10 print for my office. You can also get photo magnets for just $6.99 each. Those are available for pickup in 7-11 business days. I love the photo magnets for putting T’s art work and good grades on the fridge.

Are you kids excited about the first day of school too? Do you take a first day of school photo?
Your girl is just so beautiful. I hope she has a wonderful school year!
I love this! I should really start doing more photos of the kids when they’re in school. I wish I’d done the back to school picture thing from the beginning.
I wish we’d done first and last day of school pictures. They would have been a great way to commemorate their progress.
This is such a cute idea! These types of photos are so special to be able to look back at. Also, she is gorgeous!
These are some cute signs. We do something similar for Back to Homeschool.
I really wish I had this kind of an idea when my girls were little. It’s such a fun way to mark those yearly first day of school milestones.
I love this printable! What I did was a letter felt board instead of a picture but this is definitely an idea I’d love to recreate!
I really love this idea. This would be great for my grandsons.
Have a great school year. We still have a month before we go back
It’s so nice to document our children’s first days of school and this is the perfect way to do it! I’ve always love taking photos of the kids on special occasions! Thanks for the printable!
