Fun science experiment that creates a fizzy lemon drink your kids can drink.
What you’ll need
1 lemon
drinking glass
water
1 teaspoon of baking soda
some sugar to make it sweet
Directions
1. Squeeze as much of the lemon juice as you can into the glass
2. Pour in an equal amount of water as the lemon juice
3. Stir in the baking soda
4. Add some sugar to taste
The mixture you created should be bubbly and taste like a lemon soda.
What’s the science? The bubbles that form when you add the baking soda to the lemon mixture are carbon dioxide (CO2). The carbon dioxide bubble formed, because you created a chemical reaction when you added the lemon (an acid) to the baking soda (a base).
