I can hardly believe that Halloween is just a few days away. October has been a whirlwind of a month for me.

Luckily all of the our costumes are ready to go, the house has been spooked up, and the cauldron is overflowing with treats for all the little fairies, pirates and ghosts who will stopping by. At last, I can take a little me time and sit out on the screened porch to enjoy some of my favorite things. Sometimes I just need to take a few minutes to enjoy a cup of my favorite hot chocolate recipe and flip through some magazines.

Speaking of magazines… Have you seen the current issue of PEOPLE Magazine with Kelly Clarkson on the cover? She was such a beautiful bride!

Yesterday afternoon I took a few minutes to sit down, relax and enjoy some Hershey’s Dish Candy and read the last couple issues of PEOPLE Magazine. I’ve been so busy lately, that my magazines have started piling up. Sometimes, I like to indulge with a few Hershey’s Miniatures as an afternoon sweet treat. I like the variety that is offered in the bag, since I never know which candy bar I’m going to be in the mood for. For this particular ‘Me’ time event, I whipped up some decadent and incredibly simple to make Hershey’s Special Dark Hot Chocolate.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups of milk
  • 10-12 Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate Miniatures
  • dash of pumpkin pie spice

Instructions:

Step 1: Chop the Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate Miniatures into small pieces. The pieces need to be able to dissolve easily in the liquid.

Step 2: You want the chocolate to look something like this. I am partial to the Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate, but if you prefer the Hershey’s Milk Chocolate it would be just as good. Maybe even a combo of the two?

Step 3: Place milk into a pot on medium-low heat, and allow it to come to a simmer. Whisk in a dash of Pumpkin Pie Spice at this time. Whisk once in a while to be sure the milk does not stick to the bottom of the pan.

Step 4: Add the chocolate to the warm milk and whisk until the chocolate is completely melted, heated through, and the hot chocolate is smooth. This will only take a few minutes.

Step 5: Pour into mugs, grab your favorite magazines and enjoy!

What do you do with all the extra Hershey’s Miniatures candy bars? I recommend eating a few and setting the rest out for trick-or-treaters.

I am a dark chocolate gal and that hot beverage sounds so good, especially since the weather is starting to cool off.

This sounds so good. I would substitute milk chocolate though since it is my favorite. 🙂

I don’t like dark chocolate, but I’d like to make this with milk chocolate.

Adding that dark chocolate to the cocoa has to really kick it up a notch! I think I would add a few marshmallows to make creamy!!
