Ways to Save Money on Groceries

Ibotta

Ibotta is an app that you download on your phone and then check what items they have rebates on in your area. Click on the rebates for items that you need to purchase, and then snap a picture of your receipt after you are done shopping. Within a week your rebate money will be credited to your account and once you reach the $20 payout the money can be withdrawn to your bank, via PayPal. You can also apply your earnings towards a gift card from more than 20 retailers.

Checkout 51

Checkout 51 is a grocery savings app that works very similarly to the Ibotta app. Pick your deals and savings before you head out to the grocery store, buy your groceries and upload a picture of your receipt. One difference between Checkout 51 and Ibotta is that you can claim rebates more than once, which is helpful if you tend to shop in bulk.

The Checkout 51 app is now also offering rebates on fuel purchases in some areas. Enable location services on the app, find a fuel discount, fill up your tank, and then upload a picture of the receipt and watch your earnings grow. Checkout 51 rebates are updated on Thursdays at midnight, so make sure you use your rebates before then. Checkout 51 pays out once you reach $20 in rewards via check, but they are testing payments via PayPal.

Fetch Rewards

Fetch Rewards is another grocery saving app that is similar to Ibotta and Checkout 51 but Fetch Rewards rebates do not have to be redeemed at a specific store; they can be redeemed anywhere. Fetch Rewards partners with a variety of different brands and when you purchase those products you take a picture of your receipt to verify the purchase and earn points. Your points can then be redeemed for gift cards to a variety of stores.

Coupons.com

If you print grocery coupons online, chances are you have already heard about Coupons.com, but did you know that they also offer cash back rebates for purchasing specific products? All you need to do is sign-up, select your rebates, and snap a picture of your receipt. Rebates are paid out through PayPal and there is no minimum requirement to cash out.

CoinOut

Featured on Shark Tank in 2018, the CoinOut receipt-scanning app is a free app for iOS and Android devices that lets users earn cashback for simply uploading their receipts. All you have to do is shop, snap a photo of your receipt, and upload it through the CoinOut app to earn cashback. Note that receipts can’t be older than 2 weeks in order to credit. Currently CoinOut offers PayPal cash, Amazon gift cards, and Direct Deposit as reward options.

Grocery Store Apps

If you haven’t already make sure that you sign up for any programs that your local grocery store offers. Most of the big chain grocery stores have customer loyalty apps where you can save money via coupons and rebates on popular items. You can also link these store loyalty accounts to most of the apps listed above to make cashing in on grocery savings even easier.

You might be wondering if you can use more than one of these apps at the same time, and the answer is yes! You can use all of them at the same time, just make sure to select your offers before shopping, and to upload your receipt after your shopping trip. Using these apps may add a few extra minutes to your day after putting away your groceries but the savings and gift cards make it worth it.

So what are you waiting for? Download these grocery savings apps and start earning cashback and rewards on items you were going to buy anyway today! Do you have any other grocery store savings apps to share?
