NETGEAR Teck Travel Router - Family Travel Internet Solutions

Have you ever stayed at one of those hotels that only allowed one WiFi connection per guest? Yes, they still exist. As soon as you sign into WiFi on your smartphone or one of the kids powers up a tablet, the WiFi connection is dropped on your laptop. The NETGEAR Trek Travel Router takes care of all of that and a lot more, providing internet connection solutions for family travel. As a NETGEAR Ambassador, I received the NETGEAR Trek N300 Travel Router and Range Extender for review purposes.

I had been wanting a network device to use when I access a public WiFi at my local coffee house or when I travel. I wanted to keep my family’s laptops and personal devices protected while accessing the Internet on the road. This NETGEAR Trek device works as a router connecting to a WiFi hotspot and provides valuable firewall protection. For me being able to create a secure, private WiFi network when using public hotspots is a huge selling point of this device.

It is relatively simple to set up. Plug it into an outlet or USB port on your laptop, switch it to Wireless Mode, then connect to the Trek’s wireless network via your laptop or tablet and log in and manage your router.

The NETGEAR Trek allows multiple devices to be connected. It can treat a wireless connection as a WAN connection and share that single IP out to your other wireless devices. You can share one Internet access fee with multiple devices. It’s great for hotels that charge you for a per device connection. When traveling with kids, everyone can have their devices connected.

The NETGEAR Trek Travel Router goes with us now too. Luckily, the router is small enough to fit easily into your backpack, briefcase, or tote.

Home Use
One of the things I really like about this device is that it can also be put to use at home. If your house has dead spots, where the internet connection isn’t as strong, use the NETGEAR Trek Travel Router to extend the range of your WiFi network throughout the home. My house has several of these dead zones. It will also serve as a bridge for your ethernet-enabled devices such as TV’s, Blu-ray players, etc.

This affordable device is available from a number of retailers like Walmart, Amazon, and Staples, and will provide you with a safe connection wherever you trek.

Would the NETGEAR Trek Travel Router be useful for your family travel and internet needs?
