JOLLY TIME Kernels of Kindness

I am so happy to share with you a new campaign from JOLLY TIME called Kernels of Kindness which recognizes people who bring joy and happiness to others by doing good in the community. Do you know anyone who fits that description?

The Kernels of Kindness campaign, celebrating 100 years of JOLLY TIME, will award 100 $1,000 grants to people and organizations around the country who bring joy and happiness to others by doing good in the community. Nominations can be made at jollytime.com/kernelsofkindness starting on May 15th. Judges will determine the 100 winners.

As soon as I heard about this campaign, I thought of Wanda Davis, Director of the non-profit organization Family Connection and Communities In Schools of Glascock County, Inc. which does great work in my community. I am so in awe by the many outreach programs offered through Family Connections which include everything from an after school program to a food bank, mentoring, clothing drive, toy drive, and so much more.

This organization reaches so many Georgia families providing much needed necessities. Wanda and her small staff do really great work, and I have caught Wanda more than once working after hours on her own time. I just know that a $1000 grant from JOLLY Time Kernels of Kindness program, would go a very long way in the hands of these capable and passionate ladies. I look forward to nominating them sometime this week.

This is a picture of me with Wanda, taken during the toy drive last Christmas. I am forever amazed by all the many things this small group of ladies is able to accomplish. They are very deserving of some grant money. Do you know someone who deserves a thank you for good deeds? I would love to hear about the person or organization you would nominate!

Be sure to make your nomination, and check out all the beautiful and inspiring stories shared on the JOLLY TIME website! It’s sure to bring a smile to your face.

  • Sad thing is, I can’t think of anyone that I possibly could nominate in my town – if anyone is actually trying to help and change things, they sure aren’t doing a really good job, and we certainly do not know about it!

  • There is an organization in my community that helps individuals who need assistance with food, bills, clothing, and other items they can offer. This includes those who are homeless. I would nominate the amazing woman who runs this non-profit organization.

  • I would nominate our Alderman here in our small neighborhood. Not only does she serve the neighborhood government, she also oversees our community garden.

  • I would nominate my mother. She is such a supporter of the local animal shelter and she always volunteers her time and gives food and toys as donations. she has even taken a few in before finding them forever homes 🙂

  • I would nominate my sister. She was working at a vet clinic here in NY when she discovered a pack of feral cats at a local Wendy’s. She built them shelters (we have harsh winters), buys food and supplies, towels and straw for bedding and other needed items using her own money. She also set up traps so that she could catch a cat or two when possible. She would take them in to get spayed or neutered and used her own funds to do so. After getting them fixed she would put them back in their habitat (it is pretty much impossible to home a feral cat that was born in the wild so they would most likely be euthanized at a shelter). She got permission from Wendy’s to do this on their property and not only did they say yes, but they were so grateful to her since having a bunch of feral cats running around your establishment is never good for business. She also did this behind a bar as well were there was a huge colony of feral kitties. Obviously she can’t catch all the cats, but the ones she can get, she is making sure they are not producing more litters of kittens and creating more of an overpopulation problem.
