Fall is a great time to renew your focus on your healthy lifestyle. Sometimes, during the summer, between the kids being out of school, vacations and just trying to squeeze in as much fun as possible, healthy choices can fall by the way side. It happens to the best of us. However, with fall here, it is time to get back into taking care of ourselves as life settles back into a routine.
With my daughter back in school, I am back to my daily routine. I am able to get her off to school, work, and find time to make delicious healthy recipes and have a regular work out schedule. When I made the decision to start making healthy choices and changes, I didn’t always know which was the best one to start with. Now I have learned that it doesn’t matter where you start, as long as you start and keep moving forward.
It is OK to indulge – Some of my favorite treats are fall inspired with pumpkin and apple. While pumpkin and apple are healthy by themselves, when they get turned into fall treats. With pumpkin muffins or Jewish apple cake, the sugar and white flour takes the healthiness away. The best thing to do is not to deny yourself completely. Have a small piece of cake, pie or a mini muffin. Just remember to only have a taste. Don’t let it derail your healthy lifestyle.
Look for healthier options – If you really need those daily fall treats, why not find healthier options. Look for fall inspired flavors but with less sugar and flour.
Enjoy the weather – Exercising outside is a great way to get fresh air and make the work out more enjoyable. With the overwhelming heat of summer over, it is easier to get outside and enjoy the weather. Go for a walk or hike, ride a bike, do yoga in the grass or bring a laptop outside and do your workout DVD.
Create a new fall routine – With the healthy treats and the outside workouts, why not create other healthy routines. Wash your face every morning. Apply a moisturizer with sunscreen in it. Brush twice a day with Crest.
