Are you looking for fun and affordable ways to keep the kids busy this summer? Have you taken the Michaels Unplugged Summer Pact yet? Michaels stores are making it so easy for parents and kids to get crafting this summer with the Passport to Imagination classes. Kids will have a chance to travel the world this summer at classes being held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays this summer. Each week a different part of the world will be explored and kids will get to learn about different cultures while doing fun craft projects. One of the things I love about these 2 hour classes, for children ages 5 and older, is the affordability. Classes are only $2 to attend, including supplies.
Our Michaels store in Augusta has this neat display just as you walk in the door. It shows some of the fun craft projects kids have to look forward to this summer.
My nieces were so excited to attend their first class earlier this week, when they learned about South America. Projects that day included textile weaving (Bolivia) and a Moai sculpture (Easter Island). The textile weaving was a little tricky for the girls at first, but with a bit of practice they were well on their way to becoming master weavers. That might be a bit of a stretch, but it sure was fun!
Check out Rebecca’s finished projects. I think she did a great job! Maddie’s projects were great too, but she had already rolled her Maoi back into a ball, before I could snap a pic. I guess remolding it is part of the fun about playing with clay though!
There’s still plenty of time for summer crafting at Michaels with Passport to Imagination. Classes run 3 times a week through August 2nd. Here’s the travel itinerary:
- Week 1 (June 17, 19, 21) – North America
- Week 2 (June 24, 26, 28) – South America
- Week 3 (July 1, 3, 5) – Asia
- Week 4 (July 8, 10, 12) – Europe
- Week 5 (July 15, 17, 19) – Africa
- Week 6 (July 22, 24, 26) – Australia
- Week 7 (July 29, 31, August 2) – Antarctica
Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot at your local Michaels store. Check out the class schedule and find a store near you to register.
Which country are you most excited to explore this summer?
