I know we’ve been talking a lot about MONSTERS UNIVERSITY, but it’s super exciting stuff!

Monsters University Mike Oreo Pops

Needless to say, I’ve got Monsters on the brain right now. I decided it wouldn’t be fair for me to have all the fun and came up with some MONSTERS UNIVERSITY party ideas like these Mike Oreo Pops, to share with my friends and family.

You might have seen Oreo Pops on the blog before. After a couple of failed attempts at making cake pops, I decided that Oreo pops are much simpler to make and just as cute.

Ingredients:

  • Oreo cookies
  • Mini Oreo cookies
  • Frosting (serves as the glue)
  • Green Wilton candy melts (1 bag yields about 12 pops)
  • Large candy eyes
  • Lollipop sticks

Instructions:

Step 1: Carefully separate the Oreo cookies. Place a lollipop stick onto one cookie half, and use a dab of frosting as glue – to hold the stick. Place the other cookie half back on top, and gently press to seal the stick into place between the halves.

Step 2: To create Mike’s mouth, separate Mini Oreo cookies. Cut in half, down the center of each cookie. Set aside.

Step 3: Melt Wilton candy melts according to package directions. If it seems a bit thick to coat the cookies smoothly, add a teaspoon of shortening. Spoon the melted candy over each cookie pop, and carefully shake off any excess. Place on a parchment lined cookie sheet.

Step 4: While the candy coating is still soft, press onto each pop 1 candy eye and one mini cookie half for the mouth. Place in refrigerator until firm. If needed, use a sharp knife to remove any excess candy coating from edges of cookie.
