It’s May! And that means it’s time for Nat Geo WILD’s inaugural BARKFEST, a full weekend of programming that celebrates man’s best friend, airing May 15-17.

You probably know how much we love dogs here at About a Mom. In fact, we have another rescue dog, Fionna Hope, that we are picking up tomorrow. She’s had a very rough start in life, and deserves a loving forever home. Be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook to meet her this weekend!

World’s Greatest Dogs – Friday, May 15 at 8 PM ET/PT
These are the stories of extraordinary dogs: a surfing therapy dog, a bionic dog, a dog with the world record in scootering, and many more. We’ll meet these incredible canines and their dedicated owners.

Cesar 911 Season Finale – Friday, May 15 at 9 PM ET/PT

Is Your Dog A Genius? Doggy See, Doggy Doo – Friday, May 15 at 10 PM ET/PT
Is your dog a born genius? Or can you make him one? Duke University dog scientist Dr. Brian Hare uses his groundbreaking research to help dog owners better understand their canine companions. This interactive series will help dog owners everywhere unlock their canine’s true potential.

  • There are four special dachshunds in my life! We got them all from a rescue and now my family does volunteer work with that rescue. Some of them were mistreated in the past and it’s been a journey getting them to trust us. It’s so rewarding working with rescue dogs!

  • I hope that this will air again – or they will do it again. Great idea! Cute pictures, too. I’d like to have a dog someday, too!
