‘Tis the season to celebrate, create and bake! In the coming weeks my kitchen (probably yours too) will be filled with the most delectable smells.

Peppermint Sugar Cookie Bars

Baking holiday cookies and other sweet treats is a big part of the holiday season at my house. Did you see the recipe I shared recently for Decadent Dark Chocolate Brownies with Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting? I think you’re going to love these Peppermint Sugar Cookie Bars just as much, if not more. It’s such a delightful Christmas dessert.

Hershey’s baking products are a big part of my family’s holiday baking. Hershey’s Kisses find their way into so many of my cookie recipes, and Hershey’s Kisses Candy Cane Mint candies are my absolute favorite. They are the perfect addition to these Christmas sugar cookie bars.

The Hershey’s Kisses Candy Cane Mint candies are both inside the sugar cookie bars, and on top of the delicious peppermint cream cheese frosting. It’s such a treat!

Peppermint Sugar Cookie Bars

You’ll want to make a double batch of this recipe. One just for you and another to give away. Somehow, in my house the batch I make for myself disappears when I’m not looking. Those naughty little elves!

Peppermint Sugar Cookie Bars

Tender peppermint infused sugar cookie bars, topped with a sweet peppermint cream cheese frosting. These Peppermint Sugar Cookie Bars are perfect for your holiday parties and gift giving. Or, just as a special treat for your loved ones.

I think Santa would be rather pleased to get a plate of these peppermint sugar cookie bars, along with his milk on Christmas Eve.

Are you ready for the recipe?

Tender peppermint infused sugar cookie bars, topped with a sweet peppermint cream cheese frosting. These Peppermint Sugar Cookie Bars are perfect for your holiday parties and gift giving.

Ingredients:

Bars:

  • 2½ cups flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup butter softened
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup finely chopped Hershey’s Kisses Candy Cane Mint candies about 30 candies

Frosting:

  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 2-3 Tablespoons milk
  • Hershey’s Kisses Candy Cane Mint candies finely chopped

Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat oven to 375. Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with foil and lightly grease the foil.

Step 2: In a medium bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3: In a large bowl, cream the butter until light and fluffy (about 1 minute). Add sugars and mix until combined. Add egg, sour cream, and vanilla and mix well. Gradually mix flour mixture into wet ingredients and continue to mix until the dough comes together and is not crumbly. Gently fold in the chopped Hershey Kisses Candies.

Step 4: Gently press the dough into bottom of prepared baking dish. Bake 18-22 minutes until golden. Allow to cool completely.

Step 5: Once the bars have cooled, prepare the frosting. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until fluffy. Add the powdered sugar and peppermint extract and beat until creamy. Add a tablespoon of milk at a time until the frosting reaches the consistency you desire. Frost the cooled bars. Sprinkle with additional chopped Hershey’s Kisses Candy Cane Mint candies. Cut into bars and enjoy.

This holiday season, I hope you’ll start new traditions, build lasting memories and enjoy the magic of the season with your family by baking and creating with Hershey products.

Mmmm I love all things peppermint so this is right up my alley. The cookie bars are a nice way to mix it up a little. I’ve got to have my traditional holiday baked goods, but each year I want something new also.
