Being a busy on the go family, doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice healthy and nutritious meals. Although it’s tempting to hit the drive-thru on the way home from cheer practice, we usually try to wait and eat something at home. Drinking enough milk is no longer a challenge for us, not since I started purchasing shelf safe milk.
Why should we make sure our kids are drinking enough milk? Milk is one of the most nutrient dense foods and contains nine essential nutrients and vitamins, including protein, vitamins A, D, and B12, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, riboflavin, niacin, zinc, and magnesium.
Shelf safe milk is just that… safe to keep on the shelf, no refrigeration required (until after you open it). There are a lot of reasons why I purchase shelf safe milk. We live out in the country and the one small store that is within a 30 minute drive is often out of milk. Not having milk in this house full of growing kids is not an option for me, so shelf safe milk has been a real life saver.
We recently went on a trip to Florida and didn’t arrive to our resort home until late in the evening. Heading out to the grocery store that first night was not on the list of things I wanted to do, and I knew my sister’s little ones would be needing some milk in the morning. So, I packed our car up with some shelf safe milk, cereal and coffee (my personal must have).
Shelf safe milk is perfect for tucking into diaper bags and lunch boxes! Try freezing the single serving packages the night before and drop it into your child’s lunch bag the next morning, it will be just right by lunch time.
How does it taste? If you’re not familiar with it you may be wondering if shelf safe milk tastes the same as the refrigerated variety. There is no difference in taste – it’s just Grade A wholesome, nutritious milk.
