Enjoy homemade soda and protect the environment, all at the same time with SodaStream!
I think SodaStream is one of the most exciting green living products to come on the market in a long time. Our family was thrilled to have an opportunity to review the SodaStream Genesis. We have been working to reduce our carbon footprint and with every bottle of soda we make at home, we are doing just that. By using SodaStream’s reusable carbonating bottles, we are reducing the number of plastic bottles filling our countries landfills. The fewer number of bottles purchased at the store, also means less transportation pollution.
SodaStream turns ordinary tap water into sparkling water or soda in just a matter of seconds. Our SodaStream uses no batteries or electricity and is real easy to use. To make soda, all you do is fill one of the provided bottles with tap water, insert it into the SodaStream, press the lever down a few times to create carbonation, and add your soda mix. That’s it! The kit we received included all the typical soda flavors, as well as some really unique ones. The cola mix tastes as good if not better than what you would pick up in the store, and the root beer is fantastic. My personal favorite is the diet pink grapefruit. I also like to add a splash of juice to my carbonated water.
The kids love making their own soda and I like they can do it with no mess. The dogs have a very different opinion, however. They go nuts over the sound it makes when carbonating. I’d hoped they would get used to it after a couple of weeks, but no such luck.
Probably what I like best about SodaStream is the money it will save me. The soda flavors are very reasonably priced and can be purchased online or at a local retailer. I was really glad to find that there are several retailers near me that sell SodaStream supplies and will exchange the carbonator when it gets empty.
