Born to be Heroes. Trained to be Warriors. Destined to fight evil…
The Three Musketeers is a film that we really wanted to see but missed in the theater last year. So, we jumped at the opportunity to review it on DVD. I have to admit that I was most looking forward to seeing the dreamy Orlando Bloom on screen again. The Three Musketeers did not disappoint. The entire family really enjoyed the outrageous, action packed adventure of this film!
This version of The Three Musketeers is a modern and rather humorous retelling of Alexander Dumas’ timeless swashbuckling classic. The star studded cast includes Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson & the Olympians), Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean films), Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil films) and Academy Award-winner Christoph Waltz (Best Supporting Actor, Inglourious Basterds).
The three are joined for this adventure by aspiring warrior D’Artagnan, the son of a Muskateer. He is a gifted warrior, but a bit cocky for his own good. D’Artagnan has some of the best sword fighting scenes in the movie and even finds time for a new love interest.
It was fun to see Milla Jovovich in action as the devious double agent Milady. The combination of powerful special effects, action, humor and outrageous antics of The Three Musketeers truly makes for a fun movie experience! I definitely recommend this one for family movie night!
The Three Musketeers, released by Summit Entertainment, is available on Blu-ray, DVD, and 3D Blu-ray on March 13th!
This looks like a great adventure that the whole family could enjoy!
My daughters are 5 and 7 years old and have just started to be able to tolerate “live action” movies. They’ve been fans of the 3 Musketeers since they saw Barbie’s take on it in 2 years ago. (My oldest wanted to learn French because she wanted to grow up to become a Musketeer, lol.) Do you think the movie is appropriate for them to watch with me and is there enough action to keep their attention? (Think Real Steel, which they LOVED.)
I can’t think of anything in the movie that would be offensive for their ages. There was no bad language, inappropriate behavior or excessive violence. The fight scenes were pretty tame, although quite entertaining.
Never even heard of this movie! I will have to check it out. Looks cute!
I don’t even remember this being in theaters! We’ll have to rent it (or buy it) for our next date night in.
Thanks for the review! I also missed it in the theaters, I will definitely watch now!
