Decorating your home is something that usually doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time to find the right pieces and your budget might not allow you to do it all at once. It’s a never-ending process for me. There always seems to be a room in my house that needs a little spiffing up. I’ve partnered with Sam’s Club to share some easy ways to update a child’s bedroom and bath – and do it all on a budget.
Easy Ways to Update a Child’s Bedroom and Bath
You may know that I moved from Georgia to Florida last summer and shortly thereafter became the legal guardian of my then 7-year old great-niece. If you’ve ever made a major move before, you know how expensive it is. While relocating to Florida and growing my family has been pretty wonderful, moving my household and business across state lines was very costly. I’ve had to be smart about the money I spend on decorating. When it came to decorating T’s bedroom, mixing old and new and choosing pieces that she can grow with has helped a lot. I started off with the basics but have since done a few bedroom and bathroom updates that I’d like to share with you.
Recently, I found some super cute, inexpensive prints online for T’s bedroom. Want to really do it on the cheap? Pick up some frames from Sam’s Club to display a few of your child’s masterpieces. T is going to an art camp over summer break. I have a feeling I’ll have some new masterpieces for the house by end of summer.
I purchased a new dresser and bedside table, but used a daybed and storage cabinet from my old house. Everything doesn’t have to match perfectly. In fact, I prefer when it doesn’t. While the mattress on the daybed was in pretty good shape, it needed some improvement in the comfort department.
Last week I added a Dreamfinity™ 3″ Cooling Memory Foam Mattress Topper from Sam’s Club. T’s bed is so incredibly comfy now and the cooling technology is great for the hot summer nights we have here in Florida. I think I need one for myself. A good mattress topper makes any bed a new one.
Paint is a great way to update a child’s bedroom. I painted just one accent wall in T’s bedroom a pretty aqua color to serve as the backdrop for a mermaid ocean scene. T is currently a fanatic when it comes to mermaids. Wall decals are great because they peel right off when your child is ready for something new.
For the bedding I stuck with a simple solid color comforter and added a few colorful pillows. The solid color will make it easy to change things up again with new pillows when we are ready. The most luxurious part of her bedding is the Member’s Mark 450-Thread-Count Sheet Set from Samsclub.com. These sheets are so silky smooth and oh-so luxurious feeling. You’ll love that they dry quickly and wrinkle-free! They are a Sam’s Club exclusive product, and you can pick them up both in-club and online.
I also recently added a Dreamfinity™ Cooling Gel and Memory Foam Pillow. You guys, this pillow is AMAZING. This perimenopausal mama is going to be picking another one of these up for herself! I was already a huge fan of memory foam pillows but the added Dreamfinity™ Cooling Gel lends to pillow perfection and lots of sweet dreams. I also love that it is made in the U.S.A.
Since T’s bathroom is also the guest bathroom, I wanted to stick with something that was pretty enough for her to like and grown up enough for a guest bathroom. Hummingbirds and flowers were a safe bet. I finally got around to updating her bathroom with some new cotton luxury bath towels from Sam’s Club. Prior to that she had a bunch of mix-matched towels from the old house. I selected Member’s Mark Hotel Premier Collection 100% Cotton Luxury Bath Towels, Hand Towels and Wash Cloths in a pretty blue color. They are so plush! They have a special “air rich” technology that ensures an ultra-soft, thick and amazingly absorbent towel. It’s amazing what a difference some quality new bath towels can make. If you don’t see the color you want in your local Club, check out the great selection of colors online. There are a lot to choose from.
I still don’t have T’s bedroom exactly how I want it and am on the hunt for some great storage solutions, but I am very happy with what I have done so far. Most importantly she loves her bedroom and bathroom. I’m so glad it feels like home to her. Many thanks to Sam’s Club for helping to make T’s bed and bath extra special.
It’s summer and that means entertaining traveling family and friends! Since Central Florida is such a popular vacation destination, I’ll be entertaining more vacationing guests than I used to. These Member’s Mark items I got from Sam’s Club are great for a guest bedroom/suite makeover on a budget – when you want quality and comfort but don’t want to spend a fortune.
You can easily refresh a bedroom space for summer with a new bed topper, sheets, pillows and towels from Sam’s Club! Create a guest room retreat where you or your guests will feel at home with bold colors and cozy sheets.
I have always been a quality over quantity kind of person. Just because you are getting an amazing value at Sam’s Club doesn’t mean you are sacrificing anything at all with regards to quality. It’s what I love most about shopping for home goods at Sam’s Club.
