The official first day of summer is just a few days away, although it feels like summer reached Georgia weeks ago.

We hit the 100 degree mark in my little town, earlier this week. On hot days like these there’s nothing better than a sweet and refreshing Georgia grown watermelon. My family eats so much watermelon during the summer months, and I have a delicious Watermelon-Mint Slush that I like to make. It’s such a wonderfully refreshing drink that comes together in just a few minutes. I
Did I mention that this drink is incredibly refreshing? Watermelon is the perfect ingredient for juiced and blended drinks. It is naturally sweet, so you don’t have to add much sugar if any at all. Watermelon is mostly water and loaded with good-for-you stuff, making this Watermelon-Mint Slush essentially guilt-free.
This recipe is just 5 ingredients y’all! You can leave the mint out of this drink if you want, but I think it adds a wonderful freshness. I have a fair amount of mint growing in my herb garden right now, and use it whenever I can.

Ingredients:
- 5 cups diced seedless watermelon
- 10 ice cubes
- 2 tablespoons sugar, more or less depending on the sweetness of your watermelon
- Juice of 1 lime
- ¼ cup loosely packed fresh mint leaves, tough stems removed
Instructions:
Step 1: In a blender, combine all ingredients. Blend until smooth. Add cold water as needed.

Step 2: Serve immediately. Pour into chilled glasses and enjoy!


Watermelon Mint Slush – Georgia’s Best Summertime Drink Contest
Ingredients
