Add 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet together with the sliced onions. Cook for 5 minutes over medium-high until the onions have softened.

Meanwhile season the steaks on both sides with onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Heat a skillet on medium-high heat and cook the steaks from both sides for 2 minutes each side. Remove and set aside.
In the same pan add the remaining butter and heat over medium-high. Add the flour and whisk to combine. Add the broth then bring to a boil while whisking constantly.
Cook for 1 minute until the gravy thickens.
Turn the heat off, then place the steaks and cooked onions in the gravy. Spoon the gravy over the top of the steaks.
