Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup decorator's sugar optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Beat in the egg yolks and vanilla extract until well combined.

  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and roll in decorator's sugar if desired.

  • Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet and press down slightly to flatten.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
