Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound medium pasta shells or elbow macaroni
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups shredded white cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder or Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce optional

Instructions
 

  • Cook pasta: Boil the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
