Framed Easter Art Project

I found myself unable to sleep yet again last night, and pulled out some of the spring paper pads I picked up last week at Michael’s. If you follow us on Instagram, you might have seen what I was up to. I’m one of those people who has a lot of scrapbooking supplies yet never seems to do much of anything with it. You could say that I’m more of a collector than a crafter. I’m excited to show you that I actually used my scrapbooking stash last night, and did a framed Easter art project.

This art project is so easy. Here’s all you need to make it:

5×7 picture frame
assortment of spring scrapbooking paper
white card stock
scissors
craft glue
X-Acto Knife or other sharp cutting tool

Measure and cut 2 pieces of white card stock to fit into your frame.

Using a sharp blade, cut the shape of an egg from one of the pieces of card stock, leaving a little bit of a border around the cut-out. Mine came out pretty good, but you might want to make an egg template to trace.

Cut strips from assorted scrapbooking paper measuring 1/2″ x 5″, enough to cover the 7 inch length of the frame (slightly overlapping).

Starting at the top, glue strips of paper onto the solid piece of card stock – slightly overlapping each piece as you go. Glue the piece of card stock with the egg cut-out on top, so that the colorful strips of paper peek through.

Place your beautiful work of art into the frame and enjoy!
