Homemade Gifts - White Chocolate Peppermint Popcorn

I really enjoy giving and receiving homemade gifts for the holidays. There’s nothing more special than receiving something that has been homemade with love. Homemade gifts are also a lot easier on the budget. Every Christmas my mom and I bake a lot of Christmas cookies and wrap them up into pretty packages for neighbors, the mail lady, and the many delivery persons that we’ve gotten to know throughout the year. This year we’re going to add a few new things to the mix, and this white chocolate peppermint popcorn is sure to be one of the stars of our goody boxes.

Flavored popcorn is one of my favorite snacks. Just add a little white chocolate and crushed peppermint, for a sweet and crunchy treat that will leave you longing for more. Peppermint just screams Christmas to me and you’ll find it in many of the holiday goodies that we make.

Homemade Gifts - White Chocolate Peppermint Popcorn

Ingredients:
6 cups prepared popcorn
11 oz bag white chocolate baking chips
3/4 cup finely crushed candy canes

Prepare popcorn according to package directions. (Microwave popcorn works just fine.)

Use a rolling pin or food processor, finely crush candy the canes. I started out with the plastic bag and rolling pin method, but quickly realized it would be much easier in the food processor.

Melt white chocolate in the microwave or a double boiler.

Place popcorn in a large bowl. Pour melted chocolate over the popcorn, mixing well with a spoon until all is coated.

While the chocolate is still warm, stir in the crushed peppermint.

Spread popcorn out on a baking sheet and allow to cool completely.

Fill a large cellophane bag with the white chocolate peppermint popcorn and tie with a holiday bow and candy cane.

Recipe should yield 2 bags of popcorn or you can do like me – give one bag away and eat the rest.

I love popcorn in any flavor. I shall have to rememberr this for the next time I flavor my popcorn. Is the crushed peppermint addedto the white chocolate before you pour it over the popcron or it doesn,t matter as long as the chocolate is still warm?

I enjoy making the gifts I present (unavoidable pun) to friends and family, and this year more than half of them have actually turned out (Yipee, and for me a pretty good average). This popcorn recipe is one to add to my list, and looks quite easy to whip up last minute. I may even put some out for Santa, I am sure by the time he gets to Hawaii he is cookied out.

Not only does this sound absolutely delicious but it looks so darn cute as a gift wrapped up with the matching ribbon. Looks super easy to make too!
