Yes, I know my obsession with washi tape is getting a bit out of hand. I just can’t help myself. There are so many neat things you can do with washi tape. Today I have 2 fun and easy washi tape Valentine’s Day crafts to share with you. The first is a sweet peekaboo heart Valentine’s Day card. The second is an adorable heart box that is a gift in itself, but can also be used as a gift box for a piece of jewelry or other small trinket. Both projects require minimal supplies.

2 Fun and Easy Washi Tape Valentines' Day Crafts

To make the heart card you will need:

card stock paper
assortment of washi tape
piece of brown paper bag
craft glue
scissors

Washi Tape Heart Valentine's Day Card

Begin by cutting a piece of card stock paper to the size you want your card. Then fold in half. Cut out a piece of brown paper that will almost cover the top of your card. Fold the brown paper in half and cut out a heart shape. Unfold the brown paper and use your fingers to smooth out the center crease.

Cut and place pieces of washi tape on top of the card, like in the picture above. They don’t have to be perfectly lined up, because the brown paper will be covering the edges. Once your pieces of tape are in place, glue the brown heart cutout on top of the card. The washi tape should be peeking through.

Washi Tape Heart Box

To make the heart box you will need:

cardboard heart shaped box
washi tape
scissors

I picked my heart shaped cardboard box up at my local craft store recently for just a couple of dollars. I am loving this project because it is so simple to do. Remove the box lid. Beginning at either the top or bottom of the box, press a piece of washi tape onto the box. Wrapping it all the way around. Add a second piece of tape directly above or below the first piece, repeating until the entire exterior of the box is covered. Don’t worry if it isn’t perfect. Washi tape is very forging and can be easily lifted and moved. Chances are you will have a piece of tape at the top or bottom that is too long. Just press the excess onto bottom or inside of the box.

Washi Tape Heart Trinket Box

For the lid, I lined up pieces of tape across the top of the box. Folding any excess down the sides. I added a couple pieces of tape around the outer rim of the lid to cover the rough edges and give it a more finished look.

Have you done any crafting with washi tape?

Happy Valentine's Day

Aww what a cute little box! I’ve been seeing lots of fun crafts decorated with washi tape but I keep forgetting to pick some up to experiment with.

Were you born with the ability to make cute craft ideas or did you get better with time? Every time I try a craft project, it turns out looking like a preschooler did it! LOL

You’re so funny, Nicole. Sometimes it turns out and sometimes it doesn’t. These 2 projects were super easy. 🙂

Both of those are super cute projects for Valentine’s Day. I really need to get my washi tape out and get creative with it.

I’m still not 100% sure what washi tape it, and I keep hearing about it. I’ve never noticed it in a store, but in fairness have never looked for it. These look colorful, and easy to make is always a good thing.
